That's fair enough but why pick players that possibly weaken the team just for the sake of diversity?

Friend or faux wrote: Wed Jul 27, 2022 1:43 pm The one thing that the somewhat misogynistic Orient fans have missed, is the extremely high proportion of women supporters of this female game. Whilst English men invented the rules of this sport, I'm afraid they don't hold monopoly rights. You get a fair proportion of women at the the male genre. But considering the high degree of commercialisation, it is not very big. Could it be the drunken, loud-mouthed, foul mouthed, often violent male supporters who put them off. Then there are some of the players of the same ilk. Maybe if you don't like the female version of the sport you are better off sticking to the more "sophisticated brand ".
Yep you didn't see none of the nonsense that went on with the "fans" before the men's euro final this weekend. I much rather take my children to a high profile woman's game than a men's one. I would certainly feel safe with them.
How long before it will happen?

It hacks me off on the BBC news at the weekend when they announce the WSL results. Most of those matches have 1000 to 2000 fans there less than the NL. Yes they can get one off big crowds but noone is interested in the Women's club game

Millie Bright is my favourite of the players. No nonsense stalwart at the back.

2 or 3 years ago, when playing at centre half for England alongside Steph Houghton, Millie was slow and cumbersome, couldn't read the game and looked a real liability in the England defence, what a transformation, she is a magnificent centre half now !

Was amazed when Steph Houghton was left out the squad, but you can see why, as the plan was always to play Captain Leah Williamson there alongside Millie Bright, who was bloody fantastic
In managers we trust, that’s what they get paid to do and live/die by there decisions!

Houghton had injury issues I think and wasn't going to be fit in time, kinda shocked she's 34 now... where did 10 years since the Olympics go

Steph has been a wonderful player for England but ( see below )
''has been struggling with an Achilles injury all season, having not featured since January''
Also Fran Kirby was fortunate to be selected for the squad after missing the 2nd half of the season with fatigue issues.
Former England Women captain Steph Houghton has been left out of Sarina Wiegman's final 23-player squad for this summer's Euro 2022 tournament, but Chelsea striker Fran Kirby has been selected. Kirby missed the second half of the Women's Super League season with fatigue, but did return to Emma Hayes' squad for May's FA Cup final against Man City, despite not making it onto the pitch. Defender Houghton has been struggling with an Achilles injury all season, having not featured since January, and will be absent for the first time in five major tournaments.

Steph Houghton also has to contend with the stressful situation surrounding her husbands illness.
