There is a great possibility, so the scientists say, that the vaccine efficacy could be very much reduced by the Omicron variant, and a smaller possibility that the present vaccines may be totally useless against the new variant.
If this was the case ( that vaccine was useless), do we think the government would be straight with us and just tell us that, or do we think they would in effect, lie, and tell us there was still some efficacy?
Encouraging early signs on vaccinations holding up against the new variant, though sounds like it's even more dangerous for the unvaccinated. Initial data seems to emphasise the importance of booster shots.
As ever caveating what I'm posting by saying I don't understand the science of any of this, but apparently the immune response from booster shots is even better than what you get from the initial two shots. Even more effective at fighting the virus and cuts down transmission a lot more. So I guess it's possible that as we continue to get shots and occasional mild infections, our bodies will get better and better at fighting covid without, or with less regular, pharmaceutical solutions, even if new variants continue to emerge?

The Pfizer Jab is topping the charts whilst the British Astra Zeneca has disappeared without trace. I blame the EU.

Its.funny how AZ the cheapest of the vaccines doesnt seem to be getting
Used by many countries as a booster , they all seem to be using the more expensive ones .

Pfizer was chosen for boosters by the JCVI because they wanted an mRNA vaccine, which AZ is not. Hence Pfizer/Moderna are the main ones being used for boosters.
It's reported that after the booster you get significantly increased protection regardless of which vaccine you initially received.

Apparently the reason for AZ being dropped is because its considerably less effective than the other two. Another Great British failure.
