I especially like the way he copied Boris, by sending out one of his Ministers to do the press round and defend her, only to pull this off in the afternoon.

Ideological fiscal decisions rarely bear fruit
This current Government have targeted any and all firms of aspiration. Who would want to build up or develop their own business in this atmosphere of encouraging sloth and laziness rather than honest graft. Giving role employment rights from dry one is insane - why would any business owner want to risk their capital on recruits who cannot be dismissed if found to be crap?
Why would any business want to risk telling on staff when NI contributions are so stiflingly high - on top of unfair business rates and now a shameful raid on pension funds built up by those who have worked hard and made sacrifices to take care of their futures?
Starmer is an oaf.

So Yvette Cooper has announced five local inquiries into Pakistani rape gangs (the scandal covers fifty boroughs) instead of a national independent inquiry

This is going to be a another case of dragging out doing the thing that needs to be done and getting weeks worth of bad headlines in the process

www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/248 ... rs-jailed/

A judge has strongly criticised social services and the police for failing vulnerable young girls who fell victim to sexual exploitation by Asian grooming gangs

Same story as reported in over 50 other towns and cities, but not considered worthy of a full enquiry.

Also, the term "Asian grooming gangs" is racist. It lazily implies that this is an issue which all Asians are complicit.

Unlike many fellow lefties, I genuinely wish the Starmer government to succeed. Mainly because I think the alternative could be far worse.

But the decision to appoint Mandelson as ambassador to the US was so obviously stupid, that he deserves to be humiliated.

This is where your thinking fails.

Starmers Government is just a continuation of what has gone before. It is therefore guaranteed to fail. And will absolutely lead to the alternative you (and your fellow lefties) fear becoming a reality.

We needed to do things a different way - something we all know isnt possible - to prevent what is coming.

"we need to take on mis&disinformation"

How? If a full, open, national enquiry into the systematic failure to detect and prevent the mass sexual exploitation of children is not allowed, then how?

Not sure what years long inquiries into sexual abuse has to do with misinformation.

Governments need to take on the tech bros.

Hasn’t there already been an Inquiry and weren’t there a number of actions from this Inquiry? I understand the Tories failed to carry out any of the actions and that’s the big problem here.

There have been local enquiries into different, but related, issues. And, yes, the Tories did fail to implement those recommendations.

There has not been a full and open enquiry looking at why there appears to have been systematic failure of local authorities, local police forces, social services and other agencies to act in a way they should have, in instances in over 50 towns where men of Pakistani origin have targeted underage white girls.

This is what the survivors are asking for.

Why does it have to be years long? Labour managed to wrap up the Steven Lawrence enquiry within 18 months.

17 - A full public enquiry, as requested by victims, could explore whether there was any basis to the above claims, identify where failings have occurred, and propose recommendations for justice and improvements. If these claims were proven to be incorrect then, while it may not stop the far right from spreading lies, it would mean everyone else could be informed. It would also close down any information vacuum which, as we know from certain other topics, the far right are skilled at exploiting.
