Threw that one away didn't we. Surrey 160-8 in their first innings, 90 behind and then they get a lead of 50. So, disappointing.

No Championship for Essex this season. Surrey already look champions elect.

All efforts on the Royal London Cup now.

TBF that game was won by Surreys Jacks who made 150 in the first innings, it needed Essex to drop him a couple of times for him to propel Surrey to that total. We don’t deserve to win the championship and in truth we are nowhere good enough we are carrying too many poor players and our batting has been awful for at least three years.

It was a good match but the better team won. I would say that that's the Championship gone for this season. Wish Browne would make hi runs in the first innings, that Rossington would stop playing T 20 shots, that Snater would learn a lot more batting restraint in the CC, and so Lawrence. Surprised Westley didn't call on Lawrence or Walter to try and buy a wicket in those Surrey 1st innings partnerships, that effectively took the game away from us. Not sure either why Westley is so reluctant to do a bit of bowling himself if need be. Providence Cup and last chance of silverware.

Cricket Season starts tomorrow Woo Woo. But weather forecast is showers - typical.

I'm hoping for a double - Os Champions of L2 and Essex CCC winning any of the trophies on offer. Though the Championship is the gold medal event, it's about time we won a limited overs trophy again.

COYOs and C'mon you Eagles.

Two very good bowling attacks. Batting not so good on either side.

Middx win the toss and will field vs Essex. Alastair Cook starts his 21st season as a professional cricketer and IMO still the best opening batsman in the County Championship. Go Essex.

At Taunton, no play today due to rain - typical first day of the cricket season

Frightening game that IMO and I've never understood the scoring. Enjoy it. I'll enjoy sitting in the sun at Chelmsford, with my top off, sun tan lotion liberally applied and frying myself in the sun.

Close of play 162-3 after a rain and bad light interrupted day.

Now for The Masters (golf) on TV.

266 all out and I thought - a collapse again. Then I see Middx at 20-4 (having been 4-4) with their first four batsman getting ducks. Good on ya Cook and Porter.

Esssssex on course for victory at the end of day three. And "one for the fans" today - Chef hit a six. One does not see many of them.
