Imposition of restrictions on vaccine exports, managing to unite the DUP/Sinn Fein and both the Irish and UK government in doing so and then U turning on the decision once the bad press escalated
A good day’s work on the EU’s part. Another nail in its own coffin.
They have not covered themselves in glory have they.

I wonder if the move was more of a political stunt in response to their massively slow response to take advantage of the vaccination options. I can only imagine their national press coverage comparing their progress with the U.K. Blame shifting. The nasty Brits taking all the vaccine stuff.

Bottom line the EU has got it massively wrong and though it pains me to say Boris got it right. The vaccine rollout in the U.K. has been massive and continues to be so. Whether we hit the mid February target is another matter, but progress is impressive. The EU took too long to approve both vaccines, The Oxford one only getting approved a few days ago. Poor. And their reportedly slow ordering. Shambles.

So they try to blame the U.K. for their own incompetence.
They are apparently looking to take over the AstraZenica vaccine bases within the EU. Sounds like the start of? and then to enact protocol 16. Bully's or what! To do this only so that it affects the UK, just shows jealousy. Mighr be a lot more things to be jealous about as time goes on.

The beaurocracy of fish being returned because the wrong colour ink or paper is just mindblowing. But it is affecting both sides. God knows how vaccines get across the channel.

So odd that the EU would do the PR equivalent of throwing sh*t at the walls over a vaccine that German reports and Macron claim doesn't even work very well.

Promising news in the Lancet RE the AZ vaccine

It has a "substantial effect" on lowering transmission

Also efficacy from one shot is 76% and is not compromised by the 12 week space in jabs. Which is good as it fits in the with Govt plans (indeed immunity is actually boosted by the longer delay).

Just to cheer up you Brexiteers
We've been locked down here in France for just over a year in what's supposed to be a holiday home. That's fine... no complaints, but could die for a pint.
Yesterday, received news of a letter sent to me at UK address inviting me for a Covid jab. Couldn't find a safe, simple and legal way to get to Kent and be let back into France again afterwards. So that's that.
This morning received letter from French health authorities inviting me to book on line for a French Covid jab. Great! There is a long list of Vax centres on the web - just pick one near you!
'Been surfing all morning but not one of them is able to offer an appointment. No jollop!
Not a bad "Catch 22" is it?
Anyway, the boys didn't do too badly last night, did they? That's the main thing.

What do you mean not comparing like for like?
Vietnam has a population of 97 million...50% approx more than the UK
China has a population many many times that of the UK
Sorry fella, youre talking nonsense

People like to bang on about how well the Oriental countries have dealt with COVID.

Fact is, they were wearing masks in public for years before COVID. Some Brits can't even be bothered to wear one going in to the corner shop at the height of a pandemic.

Mandatory quarantine for people coming into the country , seeing lockdowns through properly and effective track and trace are going to be much more important I'd have thought.

I see you mentioned track and trace being important. Is this a new government initiative ?

It's those who wear one but have their nose poking over the top that really get my goat. No idea why that is btw, but it just does.

I like the idea of this track and trace. I have friends in Oz and they’ve told me how successful its been over there.

We should definitely look into it.
