So, a snap general election is on the cards if the so-called Tory rebels get through a stop 31/10 no-deal brexit vote this week.
I can see why unelected puppetmaster Cummings could go for that: they’ve already offered out various potential spending sweeteners, looks like they are sitting on their hands re an October budget, sounded tough enough playing game-theory chicken on no deal to neuter Farage’s lot for a bit, the press and Labour centrists has done its best making sure Corbyn remains untrusted with most swing voters, and the various strands of opposition are squabbling & all over the shop about tactics to stop no-deal. You’d have to conclude Cummings and Co are enjoying the ensuing chaos since Johnson became PM.

That and the fact that they're 7-12 points ahead in the polls depending on who you ask
And Corbyn polling 4th in a two horse race might help persuade them too

Indeed. Yet the Tories were well ahead (20%?) in the polls in 2017 too, May was doing well in the polls and Corbyn was also polling just as badly as now back then too. But I can’t believe they’ll throw in such an awful campaign again, mind. And the Libs are likely to take a bigger chunk of the sensible centrists vote from both parties than then, now Cleggie’s coalition cock-ups have receded to the back of voters minds.
Fecking Cameron. What demons did that chump let loose for a bit of short term electoral gain, eh?

What if Boris asks HOC to vote for a GE but refuses to commit to pre-Oct 31st.
Then Magic Grandpa whips Labour to vote against a GE after calling for one since the day after the last one.

I'm playing Devil's advocate. The main story today is the Govt are seriously contemplating a GE

Pretty obvious that Boris wanted to force Brexit through and then call an election. He'd benefit from the Falklands effect, before most have realised the real problems of no deal. Brexit party support would also disappear.
The fact that they're considering it now suggests they don't think they're going to get no-deal through. It really can't be what they wanted.
Interesting times ahead.

No you're not. You're just using your usual deflection techniques. There are countless scenarios that "might" happen but strangely you raise one that belittles Corbyn, but then again that's what you always do. Bit of a "one trick pony" aren't you.

Well it seems to have worked again, even without trying this time

A Tory government is defied by its back-benchers and collapses, nothing is done about the said back-benchers. Now the back-benchers have taken over the government anyone who dares to vote against them is to be thown out of the party, rather stinks of hypocricy that.

The threat of deselection by both major parties to their MPs just shows how morally bankrupt and narrow minded both side can be. It's a disappointing phenomena that'll hopefully fade away once the dogmatic leaderships of both sides are replaced.

Boris/Tories talking about NHS, crime, housing and education. Brexit aside, they are already campaigning on Labour issues. Corbyn did better than expected at the last GE because he's a decent soap-box campaigner and capitalised on May's terrible performance. That wont happen this time.

No but thier record on said Labour themes is woeful. Just because you suddenly find a whole forest of money trees it is not going to get you out of trouble with the electorate.

Boris doesnt want to force Brexit through.
The Story party want the EU to collapse over the original 3 point
deal , especially the backstop.
Its classic Tory manouvering, the big difference now is that the EU & everyone else knows it is a bluff & the EU will just say
OK , you can leave .
That is when the catastrophe will happen.
No one to govern the country as politics is
literally broken.

Their actual record is irrelevant. They’ll tell us how they’re going to put all those things right, the media and bots will tell us how they’re going to put all those things right and so we’ll vote for them to put those things right.

One of a few reasons why we need a general election right now. Bring it on.

Then election with majority thanks to Corbyn being useless then they can reverse it

Another Tory defection to the Liberals, BoJo's majority now down the Swaneee. This Government totally lacks credibility.

Philip Lee was facing deselected anyway. Let’s have this general election then.

When the government lose the big
vote tonight, no doubt the clown Johnson will try for a general election.
However there will have to be a vote on that, in which unless Labour vote for it, cannot happen
Labour would be mad to want an election at this time, at a time that suits Johnson .
So we could have a lame duck prime minister with no majority, who is under parliament's thumb.
The opposition should take a vote on withdrawing article 50, to finally end this dangerous nonsense called Brexit

It would be the first time they'd been honest on the subject in 3 years
Want to invoke article 50 immediately
Promise to honour Brexit at general election
Vote against only deal on offer
Vote against no deal

If Johnson gets smashed in the vote tonight , how exactly is it a good time for.Johnson ?
"I will lead us to leave even with no deal".
Nope failure on that one Bojo .
3 consecutive conservative pms have failed this country.
Get rid & get in either a labour or liberal no to a no deal government sharpish.
