4 reasons that I can see:
1) to avoid the meeting with the Northern Tory MPs, having promised them all this 'levelling up' and failing to deliver
2) to try and change the news headlines away from his ethics adviser having resigned in disgust at what Johnson wanted from him
3) wanting to assert himself as Zelenski's bestest mate after Zelenski met with important EU leaders, can't possibly be upstaged by them
4) to play out his fantasy of being a 'world leader', farting around the globe with his own special plane

5) To wind up Remoaners who don't like the fact that Johnson is more popular with Zelensky (note the spelling) and the Ukrainian people than the EU's leaders.
As for (3) "being upstaged by important EU leaders", have a read about what is really going on with the EU and its response:

Have I read this correctly? The Sunday Times wanted to run a story about BJ appointing his new Mrs for a job she was unqualified for when they were having an affair, but he slapped an injunction on the story. How does he get away with it?

If you liked that story you may also like the one about her getting the heave ho from the Tory party comms dept for being rubbish at her job and fiddling her expenses.
Looks like quite a pattern of behaviour: using his access to public funds (in a less than honourable manner) to promote whatever the interests of his latest 'friend' are.

The political realignment that has been tearing its way through the Republican Party in the US has now well and truly erupted within the UK Conservative Party. We're now witnessing the Tories stick two fingers up to the business community (failure to plan for Brexit), the Church of England and the next monarch (the Rwanda policy). They have also damaged their own claim to be the party of law and order.

In short, a Party that’s always been a pile of sh-ite is getting even worse.

I see Johnson had surgery on his nose this morning. Sniff, sniff, snort, snort.

The Tories are now well and truly the party for parties.
Tonight they are having a big fundraising bash at the Victoria & Albert museum, tickets for attendees costing £1500 and lots of auctions for even larger sums to flood into party coffers.
Not a good look when millions of workers are told to just put up with mega inflation and "don't ask for more".

With deep sadness I am having to conclude that Johnson is way beyond such remedy.
Everything about him has been calculating and manipulating and ultimately he really doesn't give a XXXX about anything other than what is self serving.
I would go further and speculate that he gets quite a thrill and ego out of 'getting one over' the rules, whatever they may be'!
Biggest ever turnaround in Tiverton in a by-election. Tactical voting to the fore.

Phew - well at least our fearless leader has pledged to "keep going" - just going once would be sufficient, thanks.
He's also pledged to "listen to the people" - kind of implies that hasn't previously been too high on his list of priorities. Any Tories on here still think Boris is the dogs danglers?
