But yes, OJ is wrong, the cull is clearly targeting people with certain views regardless of their ethnicity or sex (which is why leftie pro Palestine Muslim brown woman bad, rightie JLM Hindu brown woman good).

Sorry, but I'm too young to get the cultural reference on which your post relies on for comedic effect.

I initially went with just 80s then changed it for this exact reason. I didn’t think you’d have the front to disown the early 90s.

Jones has got to pivot his schtick to ensure he maintains those Patreon ££££s when #GTTO won’t suffice anymore

Evolving language will always tend towards being circular. The more important thing is to use language honestly and meaningfully.
When you’ve worked in the public sector for long enough to realise just how many hours are spent thrashing out whether the people what come through the doors are clients, service users, people we support, People, People With Disabilities, disabled people, Disabled people, disabled People, Disabled People, participants, or Customers (yep) you tend to be a bit less susceptible to the “catch someone out who missed the meeting” type stuff

"Women of colour"
It's going to be full-on identitarian bingo, isn't it?
Excuse my ignorance - what is the issue with OJ using the phrase 'women of colour'?
The issue is that it’s a perfect example of how the active process of engineering language is circular and entirely geared around identifying those who share the enthusiasm for demonstrating credentials rather than actually using language neutrally.
Think of it this way - can you think of a good, substantial reason that grandad saying “coloured people” is objectionable language, while “people of colour” is *the* term that’s right and good and should always be used?
And in the context, it’s the fact that Jones et al are clearly going to be using identity group membership as if that’s the reason for expulsion. Which is poor analysis; regardless of where one stands on the actions taken, it’s about politics, not sexuality or skin colour
Well that weird. I went to thank you for that post, but it comes up "invalid thank".
I'm unsure if you are right about Jones playing the identity game. The Forde report noted that there is problem with islamaphobia and how it treats black people. Labour chose to do nothing about his recommendations. It is still an issue given they way muslim and black candidates are being treated.
As a connesiur of Jones""yyys posts I believe his main framing of the situation is that it is a purge by the Labour right of the left with the complications noted above thrown in for good measure.

Oh come on!! Mr Po face this is the schtick the Labour right of centrum have been deploying for years as Jess Phillips demonstrates regularly and Diane and Apsana can testify to.

Here's an old tweet of Faiza Shaheen & Ash Sarkar cracking jokes on Twitter, questioning the racial and cultural 'authenticity' of Sajid Javid.

I don’t think he’s saying that it justifies purging. I think he’s more saying that it’s a bit rich citing racial identity as the motivating factor here when it’s actually the people at the centre of it who have demonstrably been more than a bit iffy by publicly joking that ethnic minorities who aren’t politically aligned with them aren’t “really” black or brown like what the proper lefty black and brown people are.

Think the treatment of Shaheen is gross tbh, but there is an obvious inconsistency with how we're expected to treat these allegations of prejudice with how much downplaying was done towards Jewish members/mps complaining about similarly felt impressions of prejudice.

In short, there is a hierarchy of racism within Labour. It is institutionally racist there can be no doubt of that. The Forde report tells you that in black and white.

How many Jewish MPs did Corbyn stop from standing?

This isn't hard to follow. If you think that accusations of institutional prejudice against groups that put up with racist sh*t should be taken at face value and not viewed through the prism of political conspiracy/smear (as essentially Corbyn confirmed he did in that statement), then what Shaheen has alleged is as serious as what Jewish people alleged under Corbyn.

Terrible leader. It's not too late to ditch him and get someone in who gets positive personal opinion poll ratings.
