Not sure I buy the ditch any semblance of entertainment and scrape through any way you can argument.
We’ve been extremely fortunate so far, progressing despite Gareth’s best efforts and taking advantage of the favourable draw.
Love to see us win on Wednesday and play some decent football at the same time.
Yeah we’ve been consistently lucky over 3 of the last 4 tournaments. Nothing else involved

People are just desperate to have something to whinge about, because- - that's Who they Are.
Even a victory cannot be allowed to be enjoyed; because some level of their exacting standards (which they only apply to others, not their Own lives) has not been met.
It must be a miserable, and almost amoebic, existence: citing, and seeing, only the negative, in all scenarios.
Despite being English themselves, the only cause for celebration will come when England are knocked out.
Spot on.
Look, I’d get it I’d Orient were playing turgid negative stuff week in and week out and you were paying to watch it. Even if we were winning, to some extent it’s justified to want to be entertained.
But all of these moaners are on their couch, with a remote control that presumably allows them to switch channels. Forgetting that it’s a tournament and is only potentially a max of 7 games where no other England manager for the last 58 years has managed to do better. Not realising that it’s very rare that any team in the last 20 years has won a major tournament playing non stop fast, electrifying football.
Proper butt hurt they are being proved wrong every 4 days as well.
Thought you would be out there cheering Gareth and the boys on at every match.
My first excursion was Turin 1980 when tear gas filled the air against Belgium.
Do you often get off your couch to support them abroad then?
Not sure what proper butt hurt even means, but you seem to talk out of yours an awful lot.
This from the football expert who thinks 2 draws and a win equals 7 points
What a strange post. Butt-hurt for sure. Maybe don’t bother with the semi final and watch re runs of Euro 2000 when we played nice attacking football under Keegan and went out in the group

My old mate Mr Bonaparte once famously said: "I'd rather have a Manager who was lucky than one who was good", and I make him right.

Ok enough, what exactly are you alluding to about being butt hurt?
Its one thing getting a bit trappy about football, but there is a definite line you shouldn't cross.

3 of the 4 teams in the semi final have been crap for almost all the tournament. There's a lot of criticisms to be made of Southgate but he's obviously instilled a form of winning mentality as we keep progressing deep into tournaments, even if the football hasn't always been great (and id say this is the first time under him it's been actively poor). Scoring goals at vital moments, winning penalty shootouts, giving a platform to your best players to do something magic - these aren't flukes.
It's a weird one. If we lose tomorrow, it's been a poor tournament based on how bad the football has been and the fact we'd have won one normal time game. But if we progress, it's an indisputable success.

Since I've been watching England:
1990 - semis
1992 - group stage exit
1994 - did not qualify
1996 - semis (qualified as hosts)
1998 - last 16
2000 - group stage exit
2002 - quarters
2004 - quarters
2006 - quarters
2008 - did not qualify
2010 - last 16
2012 - quarters
2014 - group stage exit
2016 - last 16
2018 - semis
2020/1 - runners up
2022 - quarters
2024 - semis (at least)
1990 to 2016 - in 26 years we had 2 semis and 2 tournaments we didn't even qualify for
2018 to 2024 - in 6 years we've had 1 final and 2 semis (one of them still to play and could result in a second final)
Regardless of the 'entertainment' factor, how anyone can see those stats and reasonably bag our current manager's record is ludicrous.

This, innit.
PS whoever they've brought in to do that relaxation/focus thing with the players for penalties deserves a massive amount of credit too. I'm expecting another draw followed by a penalty win tomorrow night and Sunday.
IT'S COMING HOME!

I can honestly say that, watching those England players step up for the penalties on Saturday, not once did I get a sense that they were going to f*ck it up. They all had a sense of assurance and confidence about them, something I have never seen in an England team before.
And, it would be just typical that when England finally win a tournament, it would be by playing some awful football*.

Important caveat for the People's Court - this is not in any way a prediction but merely a hypothetical comment. No hope was intended to be portrayed or instilled by this comment.

Wonder if we will see an Orange Wall in Dortmund tonight, it would be a rather spectacular sight.
Not a bad match last night or at least the first half was good, dropped off a bit until just near the end.
Just hope tonight is entertaining whatever the result, not been the best tournament football wise.
Too many top players off their game, thought for all the world Mbappe would score when he was through last night.

It wont be. But, we may be able to drag the Netherlands down to our level and then beat them with experience.

More confident about beating the Dutch than I was before Saturday's game. Which means we'll almost certainly lose.

Their defence has looked very flimsy throughout and they seem vulnerable to high pressing, but we can't attack nor press, so my guess is we scrap an earlyish goal, go into our shell, and wind up doing a carbon copy of the Croatia world cup semi final.
