The line will be it would be irresponsible to change leadership at a time of international crisis, especially when the PM seems to have a good relationship with Zelensky.

Hope all those MP's who were awaiting the outcome of this before sending letters of no confidence are hitting the send button as we speak.

How comes it's only a £50 fine?

Not that it matters to millionaires like Johnson or billionaires like Sunak, but I was certain it was like £1,000 per person? Or did I just make that up at the time to stop people coming round?

Surely the Big Wigs aren't on holiday at the moment, what with Ukraine?

If you organised an event you get a higher fine. Attendees get a smaller fine.

Dunno if the the Met is doing this by person or by event. Could be that Johnson, Carrie or others gets fined repeatedly.

Tory MPs already on the radios saying it isn't technically a criminal offence and is just like a speeding fine.

Oh and Ukraine is more important

Well I'm shocked !

Next they'll be explaining away lying to Parliament and the country as telling the alternate truth or something

The longer he hangs on the worse it will get for the Tories. Labour has to do nothing more than keep asking for his resignation. Its looking like Covid will be higher up in the news agenda soon as pollsters are asking questions about lockdowns again, which has always been a good indicator before. The Tories, as ever, will tailor any policy towards public opinion, especially in those voters they see as key to their survival. The May elections need to be behind them before any change is contemplated

Anthem of Hope wrote: Tue Apr 12, 2022 4:06 pm The comment from one MP that the Johnstone has to remain because there is a war is the most ridiculous and stupid comment ever

For example;
If the war was at the time of a general election as it is in Australia very soon does that mean a new elected PM cannot manage dealing with the third parties involved in the war

Did parliament ever stop not proceeding with resignations historically when other wars in this world were taking place
And France

To be fair, with 50 people at his party, it must have been quite a do.

This is this thing you do about asking questions you know the answer to isn't it?

Is the answer because the Labour guy is totally useless and devoid of all policies and charisma. I bet you will still vote for him I doubt you will go back to the Lib Dems as they are way too left wing for somebody your age.

Possibly.....

Word is that Tory MP's feel the field for a potential successor is very poor and thus they could end up with an IDS scenario.

Don't rule out Sunak doing one on Johnson, as he is pretty p***ed off because, as seems likely, the leaks about him and his wife's financial situation have come from the Johnson camp. I wouldn't be surprised if Sunak's next move is where the focus of that camp is now.

We are talking about a change of Tory leader, absolutely no chance of a General Election anytime soon.

Johnson is such a vile creature. A compulsive liar, who's lied to parliament, which in itself is a resigning matter.
Now he's been proven to have broken the law, yet he won't resign.
He makes me want to vomit, such is his repulsiveness.
He, and his ilk, have brought this country to a state where the rest of the world laughs at us.
For god's sake man, go, and go now!

Apparently this is just the first tranche of fines and they've not moved on to the more egregious parties yet :D

Sunak would be wise to resign and set a precedent

If Sunak resigns, and says" as an honourable man, I felt it was the right thing to resign" etc etc, that would put tremendous pressure on Johnson to also resign
