The biggest problem is the hospitals getting overwhelmed.Thor wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 11:34 pm A bit of perspective if I may.
Just 377 people aged under 60 with no underlying health conditions have died of Covid-19 in England's hospitals since the start of the pandemic, NHS data has showed
Just 338 of these people were aged 40 to 59, with another 44 aged between 20 and 39, and just six under the age of 19, according to the data.
Meanwhile 45,770 deaths were recorded among those with pre-existing conditions, of which 21 were aged under 20, 263 were between 20 and 39 and 2,926 were aged between 40 and 59
These are actual NHS facts.
So that's still 70,000 dead, right?Thor wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 11:34 pm A bit of perspective if I may.

We just don’t have the spare ICU capacity nor staff to cope.
The death rate is irrelevant.
Most people under the age of 50 will shake this off at home, but a good percentage of the rest
May require hospital treatment. And that is also on top of all the other emergency admissions.

Had to phone for emergency due to an issue with an over 80 year old relative, this morning . Told there is a 5 hour wait for Ambulance. Patient is a quarter of a mile from the hospital. Was told not to take her there due to Covid. They said they would phone to monitor regularly and not to phone 999 again for updates. Still waiting after three hours. Must be like war zone in the hospitals presently.Still wrong wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 12:28 amThe biggest problem is the hospitals getting overwhelmed.Thor wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 11:34 pm A bit of perspective if I may.

Nor do you to someone that lost a close family member 24 hours ago and is obviously a bit upset, equally bored of hearing about how the person they have lost is in the 'its fine they are elderly' category. Have a little more kindness.Still wrong wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 10:28 am“Donkey”Clive Evans wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 9:59 am Thory:- You and your perspectives. Just talked to a lady friend who is Covid positive. She been not too bad, but she is a tough nut. Fortunately her son rung & booked her in for a test while she was asleep. She was fuming, but had the test which is positive. She said the symptoms were vague and mainly tiredness & lethargy. She would have gone into work if she hadn't been tested. She is worried as she not sure what the long term effect will be. I bet you are glad nobody knows who you are Still wrong, because if you did, you would have more danger of your face being busted that Covid 19.

So the Government are falling short in protecting the NHS staff .Thor wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 2:32 pm Ok spoke to mate in the hospital today and he tells me they are not overwhelmed in patients, numbers virtually the same as previously. All elective surgery has been cancelled and only emergency and cancer surgeries are continuing. Staff are being redeployed to support other areas such as itu for example. They have wards closed completely ready to be turned to covid wards should the need arise, at present they are coping with how they have it set up. However, the biggest issue they face is staff shortages as the nurses are dropping like flies. He said it’s a scandal that on the covid ward they wear only a mask I think he called it level 2 whereas in itu they wear the full ppe with a level 3 mask. The level 2 mask is not sufficient to protect them hence why they are catching covid. That’s the biggest issue they face now, not having enough doctors and nurses to support the patients. Coping now, but it’s getting tight.
I salute the nhs staff and if the chancellor does not give them a massive pay rise in the next pay deal then I for one will be moaning at my mp extremely loudly.
