I see Sunak's wife is now going to pay tax on her overseas earnings. Amazing what happens when the press find out about her and HMRC advised that they may look into it.
Obviously Sunak & his Mrs would have come to the same decision if the press hadn't found out.

But, but, but why would she now pay tax if she doesn’t have to? Was she on the fiddle right under the very nose of the Right Honourable Rishi Sunak, the Chancellor?

Can't help feeling that the attacks on Sunak are getting fuelled by Johnson activating his foot soldiers. Sunak had been regarded as Johnson's biggest threat for the top job but he has now been well eliminated from the contest.
..... leaving Johnson unchallenged for the Churchill MK II role he has been craving all his life. Putin's invasion of Ukraine came just at the right time for him.
Will the Met have the courage to fine him for his lockdown parties?

You should join, if we can get Ash Sarkar's tweet on the issue to 10k RT I reckon the government could fall
Nevermind Ash Sarkar. Richard Murphy's on the case now! If Peter Stefanovic piles in too that surely must be the end?
Feels like we're a basic "This you?" James Felton tweet away from a full scale revolution
You two really are hurting about all this?
Please don’t worry, I’m sure Rishi will find another well paid career.

If one lives abroad permanently and pays tax in that country they have to declare any foreign income on that country tax return and that foreign income is added to that person taxable income paid in that country
I find it amazing that a person can pay the uk government a fee to be classified not to pay tax on their foreign income such as her
In other words the tax system is saying pay the uk a fee be we won’t tax you on foreign income.
But a person not paying a fee would have to pay tax in the uk on their foreign income
Is that not corrupt ?
Agree, nobody should pay UK tax on earnings accrued outside the UK.

People living here should.
Although I accept this doesn’t apply to the sunaks, what with Mrs Sunak being domiciled in India and Rishi being a permanent resident in the US of A.

I bet Mrs Sunak's shares in Infosys are held by an offshore entity based in a tax haven.

Ah fair enough, if the shares live in the Caymans, not here, why should they pay tax in the UK?

Remember: full taxes are for the little people. I’m guessing The Sunaks initially thought they could pull these green cards and non-domicile status avoidance strategies as "we did everything legally", but are now having to heed the public mood on tax-dodging by a Chancellor who imposes austerity on nearly everybody else.
I can imagine Johnson won’t be too unhappy seeing Sunak squirm, after his less than firm support for the PM over Partygate. Truss and Gove won’t be that sad either…
Still, makes a good study of how the global elite works. No doubt the Tory tabloids will find a whataboutery Labour MP doing similar to deflect some heat (hello, Stephen “Sensibles” Kinnock).

He didn't arrange any parties, they were civil servants he is not their boss, No 10 is also his home and garden. All the people who went were the same ones who worked together in the same building. So they can meet in the building but not outside in the garden bit daft really.

The nation that currently has over 2,200 Food Banks is spending tax-payers’ money on a search to discover who it was who upset the Chancellor’s tax-avoiding wife. Who is able to justify that?
