I spoke to a friend at Kent and canterbury hospital, these are the facts as of today.

6 on ventilators
23 on intensive care
1 in a cancer ward

Firatly I hope they all recover and go home to their families in time.

However the hospital is hardly under pressure and I'd hazard a guess its the same elsewhere otherwise why close down the nightingale?

If these figures are true, then they are already overrun.

I think the Nightingales hospitals are empty because of lack of staff.
You can’t recruit skilled staff at a drop of the hat.

I’ll be honest here and say I thought they would have more than that, it’s not something I asked to be fair. The 23 are all together on one ward so they may well have changed it around to accommodate covid patients only. I did ask about the 1 person on the cancer ward, but he needs to stay there as he needs the cancer treatment, I did say then any others on that ward could be in trouble then and he replied possibly.

I heard today that only 20% of beds were being used for covid and that the beds used in London and South East for winter illness is normal at this time of year. Which also implies that very few other illnesses are an issue currently. It was also reiterated that around 25% of covid numbers reported in hospitals were caught there. The numbers given as admissions needs to be reduced by a quater to give a fair indication.

Today percentage of tests positive is 7.694%. So down on yesterday, but within normal range of 6-8% since October.

The head of German epidemiology has said that mutations are being seen all the time and there is no need to panic (this was the 30th that we have found in this country alone). But we have Corporal Jones in charge.

Although I have my doubts over the vaccine and it’s effectiveness I think it is fair to say that it won’t be long before the Hospitals are overwhelmed.
When you look at a strong well led country like Israel introducing a draconian lockdown, I think it is fair to say we are not being BS.

SC I have been keeping the same stats as you, positive tests divided by total test carried out as it is the only way to get a constant and accurate feel for cases. I have seen the percentage ticking upwards then down and now up again in the last two months, averaged out into 7 day periods worst week so far was 12 - 18th December averaging 8.95% a day but distorted because of cases missed earlier and added during this week in Wales. Without the added cases probably nearer to 7.5% which is where we are this week.

5200 beds for the critically ill in the UK.
Not a lot for a population of 67 m.
Not only that, you have to look at the available staff.

What we do know is the mindless, selfish, stupid morons continue to win. From the stories I’ve heard, they are planning a massive campaign victory over Christmas by ignoring the rules and making sure this issue just continues.

On a positive note they will enjoy themselves. So it’s not all bad news.

Just an easy target for people who ignore the rules by breaking them. You know the sort of thing. Moan about the rules,
break the rules, spread the virus, blame the Government.

Personally I’ve no objection to bollocking Governments. Absolutely not issue with giving Johnson a good arse kicking. But fxxx me (not an offer) but there are some real idiots out there.

This is being reported in the MSM

The chief scientific adviser for Operation Warp Speed said on Wednesday that the frequency of allergic reactions to Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine is 'superior' to what is typically seen from other vaccines.

Is this something to be concerned with? Apparently it involves 6 people, which I'd of thought is not many, but if its larger than what they would normally see is this an issue?

Personally I’m encouraged by the number of countries who have approved the vaccine, finally and at last the EU. Vindication of the early U.K. decision. My Brother had his first jab over a week ago.

Like all drugs, some will have adverse reactions. That knowledge is not new and is to be expected. The drugs I take daily give me odds of an adverse reaction, 1 in 10,000 for example. We all know drugs carry risks. But the risks need to be balanced against the benefits.

No.

Move on. Nothing to see here.

My Dad had tablets for his prostate problem and the list of potential allergic reactions was huge. The ones for his wedding tackle were interesting to say the least. My point being is those things must have happened to a few people to be on the list.

I know of one ol’ dear (a neighbour of mother’s) who had a sore arm after her first needle this week ... she’s 99.

But she had to leave her sheltered accommodation near the Green Man and make her own way to ILFORD !!!!!
