I’m intrigued as to just how far Bera is going to descend. It’s a fascinating watch.
Already landed. I am only one word out of place from getting another ban. I would like to know where my rights are as a valued member of the Leyton orient message board!

Ah. An IP match from an address used 500+ times by the banned user KVN.
Time you f*cked off Samiastar. Bye.
Looks like that really upset him judging by the registration attempts that came in overnight.
They're still coming. Must admit to nearly approving "Adminisafascist" though.

I don't think Ukrainians were coming across the channel on makeshift boats which is what the Rwanda scheme is for
False equivalence.

Is there a scheme where people can offer to house Asylum Seekers and not just Ukrainians?
No.
You can see why some people might think that’s a teeny bit racialist.
Just because you wouldn't dream of letting anyone into your gaff doesn't mean the scheme doesn't exist
At least Gary Lineker backs up his rhetoric with action, even if he did talk about him like he was a pet
"
And it’s a link to a charity, Refugees at Home, which gives aid to refugees. There are different ones you can use, you can have a long term one, a middle term or an emergency service, which is almost like emergency fostering, which is the box that I ticked.”

Why are the Ukrainians being treated differently to those who make their own way here? That's the real issue.

How does it sound like a pet? It can only sound like a pet if you’re making a value judgement on the humanity of the person being given refuge. The actual quote is literally just discussing the practicalities and the differing commitment levels, right? I mean, I suspect that it’s very easy to make any situation where a person with resources temporarily offers shelter to someone less fortunate sound like someone is enjoying the hierarchy. But why not just assume good faith?

I applaud the offer, I took issue with the the wording such as "Long term one" which I felt reduces the recipient to an accessory.

The French govt offered the UK facilities to set up a processing centre for those wishing to come to the UK. The Tory govt turned it down. Next point.

My issue was with the term one, I think it was sloppily worded, which happens during live TV interviews.

But who would be being racist if any organisations were being included? It’s the fact that the government has only created a scheme for Ukrainians that is racist

There's an ongoing war in their homeland and a resettlement scheme was set up for Afghans earlier this year who were also at need

I see that now you’re suggesting that existence of any “scheme” negates the point, which is that the government has only seen fit to offer a scheme *where people can go through a process by which they open their home to refugees* to Ukrainian people.

There's schemes where people can house refugees
The government sponsored schemes are for Ukrainians and Afghans due to current circumstances

Last time I looked Hong Kong Chinese people were non white and we have recently let in 150,000 potentially up to 1m in the future. I guess they are more middle class, work hard, have money and don’t score as many brownie points at Islington dinner parties as your garden-variety Syrian.
