I read that the "new strain" could be more prevalent in the upper respiratory tract (as opposed to down in the lungs), and hence more of the viral payload goes out during coughing/exhalation.

However, it is too soon to draw any firm conclusions, and no reason for now to believe it's more infectious, more dangerous or won't respond to vaccines.

Media also have something new to get their teeth into and frighten people with before the full facts are known.
Just spoke to a friend whose work colleague has been transferred to Papworth Hospital seriously ill with it. Sounds shocking.

Obviously scotland wales & northern ireland dont matter .

Only 58,000 out of the 66 million who died having had it .
According to one of my customers yesterday it has now reached the stage where every death is being recorded as a Covid death.

I queried when exactly doctors had become so lazy and unprofessional and whether someone run over and killed by a bus would go down as a Covid death. Customer confirmed it would.

Another one tomorrow at the same time.
My uncle sadly passed away last month and he was not recorded as a covid death. Kidney failure and never caught covid in whipps Cross either despite being there for the last month of his life.

My eldest brother 89 is in hospital where he caught it. Maybe he improving a bit, but started bad cough yesterday. Says he is coughing up pianos. That may be an exaggeration. But having been in hospital a few weeks, has to lie flat on his back, was excited to go for a ride for 2 scans yesterday. That's how bored he is.

So, if the rumours are true, then Boris is going to do exactly what Kier said he would have to do. Again.

The last few weeks really sun Boris up. Stupid Xmas rules, reviewing them but instead of admitting that things have changed and the decision was stupid, he doubled down on it and now looks even more like a fanny whilst ruining plans people could have more easily have reorganised had they known earlier

The last one was 'working', they should have extended it if they thought there was a chance of Xmas being cancelled.

A proper lockdown would require a working track and trace.

A proper lockdown is what they had in Wuhan.

A proper lockdown is to introduce some guidelines that are enforceable. What is there to stop any families meeting as planned in Tier 4 on Christmas Day?

It comes down to the conscience and responsibility of individuals and we are at where that got us.

Don't blame the people, it's the Tories who are responsible.

Not 100% though they have set unenforceable 'rules'.

Those that have always gone by their own rules are as bad and they have been about since day one, not just since Cummings went walkabout.
