This might be a help for those of you floundering with the idea that you can slip in a late candidate for a Parliamentary Election. Source, The Electoral Commission.
The deadline for the delivery of nominations for a UK Parliamentary general election is 4pm on the nineteenth working day before the poll.
This deadline cannot be moved or extended for any reason.
Who is disqualified from standing as an MP?
Certain groups of people are not allowed to stand, these include:
members of the police forces
members of the armed forces
civil servants and judges
people who are subject of a bankruptcy restrictions order in England or Wales or a debt relief restrictions order
people who have been adjudged bankrupt in Northern Ireland
people who have had their estate sequestrated in Scotland

Finally, local MP gets something right. It's been a long wait but I'm a patient man.

Andy McDonald (rightly) has the whip restored after Labour's "lengthy" investigation, since October last year. Abbott's suspension and investigation is coming up to a year.

Is this just another area where Labour and Tories share the same outlook, in that both don't really like black people? Weird.

I was horrified the way the Beeb made her justify herself last night. She had done what any other working class gal would have done in similar circumstances. In the great scheme of Political scandals, we are talking about piddling sums of money. The poor gal was clearly out of her depth as she had taken all that she thought was the necessary legal advice. This is clearly a misogynistic attack on a working class gal done good and bettered herself.
When all these Tories crooks and gangsters get away with blue murder and after sometimes a rap on the knuckles, quickly get rehabilitated, eg Boris Johnson

It is funny to see fingers being pointed about a £47k gain, given the sums that have been had away in recent years.

Tories throwing stones in the world's largest glass house on this. Remember that Sunak parachuted Cameron into the Lord's to give him a front bench role whilst Greensill is being investigated by the Serious Fraud Office.

Right on, comrades. It's about time trans people became visible, as the rest of the year they're so quiet we could be forgiven for not knowing they exist.

Who knows, he's probably right to be sus cos the Labour right are playing dirty and will do whatever they can to deselect people they don't like. But pretty sure Farage or whoever else would be accused of just being a big ol' racist if he made similar accusations about a ward/constituency with a large Asian population (as NF has been - rightly - in the past). I don't really know what my point is but it feels like there's room for hypocrisy here.

If what he's claiming is true - and it shouldn't be that difficult to proof either way - then yeah.
I have every faith Sirkier and his team will look into this forensically and get to the truth.

It's no biggie.
Sam Tarry is just setting out his stall in advance of the inevitable election defeat. He was fully aware of collective responsibility and that his actions would lead to his sacking. He's no virtuous martyr.
My view on Tarry back then is the same as it is now. The bloke's a tw*t.
However, there's been a few questions raised about this Anonyvoter system so I too welcome Keith's forensic investigation.

I'm troubled too by your gut feeling fact free post.
Why should it matter what the composition of the constituency is if there has been vote rigging. Perhaps an investigation will assist with our enlightenment.
