Recognition that gay people exist in society and can be portrayed in programmes isn’t “woke”, it’s a natural result of not being homophobic

The characters in peppa pig are animals, not people.

That’s where “portrayed” comes into it. Are you perhaps aware that Peppa Pig does a neat little trick where it pretends that animals have human personalities?

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with respecting the right of employees to dress how they wish, and with recognising that there are people who don’t conform to gender norms. That’s a good thing. A man wearing a skirt doesn’t hurt anyone, and dress codes should not force men and women to dress differently from each other. There’s nothing negative going on here.

As for the pronoun thing? Meh - in the context of corporate nonsense, addressing customers how they’d prefer isn’t the worst thing in the world (though it’ll be interesting to see how any abstainers fared if they faced consequences for refusing to do so)

I’m in full agreement with your comments in this post. As I am with your viewpoints on the trans debate.

BUT

Look at the difference in how you’ve responded to this, compared to how you respond to the likes of mick mcquaid.

If faldO responds without answering any of my points, but implying that he could if only he could be bothered to, I’d soon post at him in a tone suggesting ridicule and disdain too.

But in all seriousness, I think anyone claiming to be progressive who buys into trans activism can initially be given the benefit of the doubt - it’s easy to just assume that it’s a worthy cause and those who take issue are bigots. But if you refuse to acknowledge any of the demonstrable issues, and double down or opt out in a way that even OFF would think was a bit obvious, then you’re an bumhole actively supporting a regressive, backwards, sexist set of values and organisations. People like Mick McQuaid have made criticising groups like Mermaids have social consequences, and if you read the link above, some pretty dodgy people have benefited as a result

One of the more sinister outcomes of this whole 'debate' is how it is providing cover for obvious far-right extremists to latch onto something legitimate, so that they can then try and legitimise their other views.
