3 year deal. Impressive that Martin Ling has discovered he can offer above 2 years. The money we would have got for Bonne, Koroma abd Hector if he realised that before would have been a lot more
I find it impressive that you somehow still found a way to have a moan at this piece of excellent news
I’m happy with the signing, I’ve just been unhappy with the 2 year contracts for a few years now.

No idea on who he is - I hope he’s a good un, his pedigree suggests he should be - but from the photos of him on the announcement:
1) How old is he? He looks late 30s, at least.
2) Big lad, ain’t he? Hope he’s up for RWs high pressing tempo game….

He's 29 in about 6 weeks, and hes played for about a dozen clubs, none for very long which is a tad worrying
On the face of it, a good signing, but we'll see how he plays in a few weeks time

Struggling to tell if he's left or right footed from that goals compilation. Nice.
Definitely looks like he's got a bit of 'character' about him.

Can we also try to find:
A Charlie Daniels at LB
A Steve castle to sit and drive the midfield whilst Moncur orchestrates the front players.
2 dribbling goal scoring wingers like Alan Comfort and Ricky Otto to supply crosses and goals.
1 fast strong, young fresh No.9 like Kevin Campbell, on loan from Prem team (Scarlet @ Spurs) to score 25+ goals
Sorry just reminiscing…
A Tommy Johnston in attack

Poundshop must be giving himself a five knuckle shuffle after this news.
Having watched those 2 clips put up by tuffers, Moncur reminds of Sean Thornton the way he arrives late into the box and the style he finishes in.
His free kicks clips have got some decent strikes, looks a clever player .

Totally seeing the comparison with Sean Thornton.

He looks to be the type of midfielder that we have missed for a few years. Would not have come cheap. Well done Ling to get a player that has played at a higher level for the last few years. Returning home ( his family live in Loughton)

Why not stretch a point, eh? We are his 6th club (West Ham loaned him out 3 times, including colchester). As for being 29 shortly, that's prime time for a pro.
2011–2014 West Ham United 0 (0)
2014–2016 Colchester United 69 (17)
2016–2019 Barnsley 67 (5)
2016–2017 → Peterborough United (loan) 13 (2)
2019–2021 Luton Town 52 (10)
2021–2022 Hull City 14 (0)
FWIW He signed and played for Grant McCann at Hull. The new owners brought in a new manager who took an instant dislike to him. He liked playing at Luton and I reckon RW's aim in terms of style ain't a million miles different.

That's quite a display of tattoos on his arms.
Football-wise, that quite an appearances/goals scored ratio for a midfielder.
I think Craig Clay will be warming the bench a lot once he comes back from injury, I can't see him being an automatic pick.

If he’s as good for us as Thornton was we’ll be OK

'Well done Ling?' That's his job, what else is he supposed to do. Do you think Moncur came to this club because of Martin Ling ?

So what you are essentially saying is it is ok moan and ruin him when he does something bad, but not ok to praise him when he does something good. Do I understand that correctly?

Solomon said he's like Thornton . I'm hoping he is better !

As should be the case.
Imagine this lad and Smyth both playing behind Drinnan. f*** me, that's going to be fun to watch.
Clay has a role as a utility player, someone to come in and do a job seeing games out, pushing others for a starting spot and helping the squad with his work ethic. At the very top end of L2 he comes up a bit short imo as was evidenced when Adams used to give us the runaround.
