Martin Ling said in his interview yesterday that they're working very hard to get the Theo Archibald signing over the line so it's not like they are sitting around doing nothing . You can be sure they are also talking to other new targets at the moment as well . Obviously they are not going to tell us about that incase it alerts other clubs about our potential new signings . In an ideal world I'm sure we'd all love to have new signings come through our doors on the double but I think we just have to be patient and trust in the people at the club .PoundhillO wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 6:12 pm Waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting.
Yes but he’s back nowGary the Plumber wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 8:24 am Hasn’t Ling been in America doing the soccer camps?
The soccer camps is part of his job.Gary the Plumber wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 11:03 am I’d rather he’d been here throughout May sorting out signings.
I think he was only there for a week .Gary the Plumber wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 11:03 am I’d rather he’d been here throughout May sorting out signings.
Agree on Gorman and Alabi over the last few years although there were a few during the Italian's tenureQin wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 10:30 amSeeing as we rarely bring new faces to the club early on, youll be waiting a lot longer.
I do agree with you in the main though. I like to get business done early, then its done.
Im always fearful, we'll have another summer 2018, when we brought in Gorman, and Alabi, probably the two worst signings, this club has ever brought in, IMO
Thank you for all the info JES.Top of the JES wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 1:28 pm Not just the soccer camps. Ling was out there with Devlin and they had meetings with Travis and visited several stadiums talking to the commercial teams and touring the stadiums looking at ideas that we might be able to intergrate into our operation.
Richie has said he wants the squad in place by the time we leave for Portugal. TBH I'm quite happy with our progress so far, tieing down James and Sotiriou for two years Thompson, Byrne and Pratley for another year is an excellent start to the summer. We will be talking to targets almost everyday and we are only likely to bring in 3 or four at most. Plenty of time unless your a bed wetter like Poundshop.
The next signing I'm hoping for is Archibald .Top of the JES wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 1:28 pm Not just the soccer camps. Under Kenny he was but RW was putting Sarge on the bench. I do like Byrne though. Looks a great GK in the making.
Apparently the plan is to loan out Byrne to a national league side so he gets a full year of experience.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 04, 2022 11:07 am Is there any point in having three keepers on the books . Two should be enough with a loan coming in if one gets injured . I'd rather some funds were freed up to strengthen our outfield positions .
TBF you won’t be freeing up much money if either Sarge or Byrne. Went out on loan. Byrne is likely to go out as the previous poster satys.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 04, 2022 11:07 am Is there any point in having three keepers on the books . Yes, fair enough . A season out on loan would do Byrne a lot of good . It certainly helped Ogie and Sotiriou progressTop of the JES wrote: ↑Sat Jun 04, 2022 3:19 pmTBF you won’t be freeing up much money if either Sarge or Byrne. Went out on loan.
