I don't think we should read anything into that, look how long we take to get someone to re-sign. In the meantime:

Now that we are calling players like Cook a batter, and he may well bat with Pepper I hope there'll a good fry up of runs!

We just need to 'salt' out a few more positions!

Lilley ct Willey b Dilley is still the best though almost matched by "he nearly got his leg over" followed by 5 minutes of giggles/laughter.

What about a bit of Allan Lamb to go with it.

How about a nice Yorkshire C Parkin, or a C B Fry up, placed on a couple of Jack Hobbs or Robin Hobbes, or placed in a Roy Kilner. Then you could say W G Grace.

RTD has gone,Chopra retired, add that to the money wasted on Browne’s 2 year contract, and they never even tried to replace Ravi Bopara there must be enough in the pot for two decent batters, we have had the likes of Border, Waugh and McEwan in the past when the club were well run and turned a regular small profit every year. We can’t rely on the bowlers to bail us out every season.

Sam Northeast has just gone from Kent to Glamorgan would have done a job for us in the middle order.
We really missed a trick with Northeast. I called it earlier this year but our committee are a joke, they give the likes of Browne and Walter 2 year contracts and ignore this guy who has been quality for years. We need changes to our squad next season but not as much as we need changes to our committee.

At long last Browne gets a decent score. Credit where its due, BUT long overdue.

Agreed. Well done to him but it’s needed on a regular basis. I think most Essex fans are thinking 350 all out from here.

Exactly, anything more than 350 will be a bonus!

Excellent day for Essex. Well done to Browne and Walter but Lawrence threw his wicket away again.
