Fantastic band and great album. Live at the Albert Hall is decent too.

The first concert I ever went to was in 1975 at the Liverpool Empire to see Leo Sayer (you laugh but you really should listen to his first two albums Silverbird & Just a Boy - he went all MOR after that). Anyway......the support act was a Harrogate group called Wally and I loved them (I'm a sucker for an electric violin). Fortunately a couple of years later I picked up a second hand copy of their second album Valley Gardens on vinyl. This is a long winded way of saying they have finally turned up on Spotify (I love Spotify) and I'm listening to Valley Gardens now.

ve got an orgone accumulator
It makes me feel greater
I'll see you sometime later
When I'm through with my accumulator
It's no social integrator
It's a one man isolator
It's a back brain stimulator
It's a cerebral vibrator
Those energy stimulators
Just turn your eyeballs into craters
But an orgone accumulator
Is a superman creator
It's no social integrator
It's a one man isolator
It's a…

Those lyrics were penned by the late Robert Calvert who was the bipolar lead singer of Hawkwind from time to time, he was actually a poet and some of his lyrics were wonderful. Add a typical Dave Brock riff and you had a classic Hawkwind track. He specialised in obscure subjects and an orgone accumulator actually existed and was developed by an Austrian doctor/psychoanalyst called Wilhelm Reich.

Bowie's Blackstar album. Everytime I go back to it I'm struck by how brilliant it is.

Yep. Jim Jim Falls and What Kind of People Live in These Houses really standout. Darling I Hug A Pillow is my current favourite. Despite not getting it to start with The Secret of Music has really grown on me.

Saw him at Wembley the weekend before we went into lockdown. Best he's been for years. Even the tracks from California Son were great live, especially Lady Willpower.
