Max, that is not a challenge. The challenge on this board is to be even-handed when dealing with pomposity, regardless of political persuasion. It is like putting bread in a toaster - the torch needs to be applied on both sides.

You need to develop your vocabulary as a ‘torch’ is a euphemism for heat. I didn’t see the episode myself, but I am guessing you tripped up on some words round on Pointless.

I mean, that's not really a euphemism and 'to torch' or 'the torch' aren't regularly used synonyms for 'to heat' or 'the heat' so have a quick check of your own vocabulary and then you can inaccurately patronise people while we carry on this spectacularly dull discussion.

As for this dull topic, I agree wholeheartedly. I think you will find, however, it was not me who propagated it.

Given this is the third dodgy fishing thread started in the last few days (after Sajid Javid and Sadiq Khan), it’s odd that either of us are wasting energy on this ‘wording’ topic rather than calling out the usual racist suspects.
