I’m a Somerset fan myself, can’t wait to kick Essex’s arse this season. My dad and I used to have a proper rivalry over the cricket as he was an Essex fan, plenty of stick given both ways when they played each other.

Essex tail wagged this morning, hopefully they will get a draw out of this match.

Agree that I would like to see Somerset win the title, come so close over the past few seasons.

Match drawn, both sides gave up.

Both Essex openers have fallen within four balls though.

Essex do it again, 169-3 to 214 all out.

I did plan on going tomorrow, but then again we have Somerset at Chelmsford next week.

Great result! Worrying batting though. BBC kept on mentioning the number of lbw's in the match, including Bopara and TD shouldering arms. Understand Westley could be on the move to Kent - will Essex miss him - just can't find any form in the past couple of seasons or so.

Good result, I think Hampshire need to be worried about their batting. Westley has certainly lost his way, perhaps a change of scenery would do him good.

Looks like the wicket at Chelmsford is again testing the batsmen of both teams, maybe with the exception of Sir Alastair. I was intending to go Wednesday but looks like it could be all over by then. Oh well.

It could also be the weather causing a problem to the batsmen. The atmosphere is very humid and play was delayed for a while around lunch time. It will be interesting to see how Essex bat.

Cooky top scores again and Zummerzet are 4 down at lunch still needing 205 to win

That didn't quite work out. Essex win by 151 runs. Somerset's first Championship defeat.
