Re: Ross Embleton
Les Reed was/is a highly qualified coach with decades of experience behind him. He was still a cataclysmic failure as a manager. There are hundreds of examples of people out there with credentials as long as your arm and years upon years of experience and they'd never dream of thinking that they were suited to first team management. Its a whole different ball game. You need to have the 'it' factor. You can't just be a good tactician, you can't just be a good training ground guy, you can't just have been a great player, you can't just be a great motivator. You need to convince everyone that you are the beating heart of the football club and through you everyone's dreams and ambitions can be realised. When the players buy in and trust their manager you can see it. JE had IT. Russ had IT. Ross does not have it.

Re: Ross Embleton
Every season with us he finished in an higher position. He nearly took us to the championship on a nothing budget, if hearn had supplemented the team with a couple of fresh additions we'd have made it.
He was made for us, gutted about what happened by from what he did and what the idiot did.
But he was a success here.

Using fancy language doesn't make what you're saying true. Ross may be a footnote in the history books but I doubt you'll be in the history books at all, so shut up.Eat The Rich wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 8:59 pm Does anyone seriously believe, hand on heart, that with Ross in charge we'd have won promotion last season? The problem I have with Ross is that his footballing philosophy, from the off, has been negative and the attitude on the pitch has been lacklustre. When JE arrived it felt like the club had a rocket up the arse. Under Ross there's just the recognisable stench of failure. If you've watched football for any length of time you'll know what I mean. With a few very obvious exceptions you can tell the managers who are going to be gone by Christmas. There's just no bounce. The new manager hasn't added anything. There's no spring in the step. There's no fresh new ideas. There's no personality being built. No togetherness. The same old weaknesses are still there but new ones have been added to the mix too. You see it with appointments all the time. Ross, for all the world, looks like a bloke who's going to be a footnote in the history books. Maybe I'm being harsh but Ross is making it very, very easy to be. If he doesn't want to be criticised like this then maybe he should work out why his spell in charge has been so dire. I don't pick the team or train the players. He does.

Les Reed was my p.e/games teacher at the end of the 70s .
Went onto 3 different schools during the 80s & fell into coaching.
Anyone who knew Les knew he wasnt in the slightest bit interested in
coaching. It was a route to getting a comfy 6 figure salaried job at the F.A.

Re: Ross Embleton
The point is though we still lost again, it looked like one way traffic at times, we seem to find a new way of loosing nearly every game, after battling the elements to get to the game and watch our head coach gradually reduce the team to nothing. was so dammed annoyed to say the leastPrestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 8:09 pm We lost by one goal 3 minutes from time, away, in very difficult conditions. I didn't enjoy watching it at all but we've been doing well so let's not overreact.

What schools did you go to? He was my mates PE teacher as well, plus he was our district manager. He has done well to be fair at Southampton when he was there, did OK at charlton, but failed as the manager, he was like a fish out of water.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 5:34 pmLes Reed was a Highly qualified coach with decades of experience ?Eat The Rich wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 12:37 pm Les Reed was/is a highly qualified coach with decades of experience behind him. He was and your memory serves you well. Les is not a manager, he is a coach and there is a big difference. I wonder where else such an experiment is being played out?Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 9:46 am From what I can remember Lou Reed was laughed at and ridiculed by Charlton fans.
