Appointment of RE absolves ML of making another potentially disastrous appointment which could have bad consequences for the club and him personally, and absolves the owners of addressing the top-heavy structure of the club and recognising that ML isn't the fount of all knowledge they believe him to be IMO. It's a win-win.
I think if we can string together two victories, they'll announce it unfortunately.
True all the above. Plus he will have sold it to the owners, continuity, players love him, fans love him, knows the club, loves the club, great coach, top coach, destined to work in the premier league, we need to tie him down blah blah blah
Sad thing is it would appear that they have bought the waffle and we will therefore continue to stagnate and or regress.
Ling is a massive problem. He has far too much power.... The board dote on his every word.
Manager's in general will not come to a place, where they have a dof 'over' them. They want to be their own man, making all the football decisions.
The club needs restructuring IMO. Ling to leave, and an experienced manager brought in to make all football decisions.

You are absolutely right unfortunately, only a big drop in home attendances or being within a couple of points of being relegated is likely to change things. One thing is for sure home attendances will drop as will season ticket sales for next year unless this problem is addressed urgently.
I have not attended a single game this season and have no intention of doing so till the root problem at this club is resolved, which in my opinion is having a DOF and not having a proven, experienced Manager at this level and above to take our club forward to the next level.

You both have valid points to make. However, personally I am not against the dof role, nor the person actually doing it. I think there is alot of merit in both the role and the person. However, with success and praise come doom and gloom with failure and right now we are looking st failure.
We must not forget that Ling has helped create the platform from which Justin was successful. He assembled a squad which proved better than anyone else last season and I'm sure that if Justin had been alive we would be looking at the top 3. Now though he has failed with 2 manager appointments and in my eyes failed with the interim managers role as well. He admitted after Adam's ran us ragged that it was the first time he had seen our midfield out played like that. Well to me that says he doesnt watch many of our games as we've been crying out for a strong holding midfielder for ages.
So to me his decision making ability is questionable and his ability to improve and enhance the squad since promotion has been questionable. I wouldn't be against such a role remaining within the club however, some accountability needs to be had with the person in it especially after his swearing outbursts in the q and a. I hope he comes good I really do, but alas time waits for no man.
I just can't bring myself to believe that Nigel and Kent are just sitting on their hands though. If you add in Porter's recent comment about not letting it all unravel (or words to that effect) then you have to assume something is happening behind the scenes.
Everything indicates that the owners are astute businessmen who care about the club, but they really do seem to be in the thrall of Ling who, to be fair, stepped up at the end of our darkest hour. But the situation is different now and I increasingly believe that JE's abilities served to mask Martins inadequacies.
Much as we all mourn Justin's passing, at some point we have to move forward, or his legacy will be lost. The time for sentimentalism has passed, and now, more than any time since then, our owners need to grasp the mettle and make the radical changes that many supporters can now see are overdue.

I agree, but the club keep insisting that “ you can’t put a timescale on grief”. Maybe that’s correct, but surely you can put a timescale on under- achievement?

That's just an excuse for tolerating a shambles and doing nothing about it.

Are you going to beat him up at the next home game if he doesn’t?

Just want to check. Have you completely abandoned the “say it to my face at the next home game and I’ll sort you out” act?
Was that really only a one night thing?
I’m shocked. It shows an uncharacteristic level of self awareness to realise that it made you look a complete t*t.
hopefully this new level of self awareness will reflect in the rest of your boarding and you’ll finally understand why you are so insufferable that you were temporarily banned from here. Onwards and upwards Mr Richard.

In all seriousness, can't you both just foe each other?
I would but lucky7 has a habit of mentioning my name on threads that I have nothing to do with. I like to see cheap shots like that. Especially when it’s hard nuts like Lucky7 who might beat me up at the next home game (his words, not mine).

odiosis
It is funny that you’re so embarrassed about the “say it to my face and I’ll sort you out” act that you’re not even acknowledging it now.
Confirmation that even you are aware of how stupid it made you look.
By the way, you cant spontaneously mention me on threads I have nothing to do with then pretend like I’m the one instigating this. I really do wonder about your IQ sometimes. I suppose hard nuts aren’t always the smartest cookies.
