This intrigued me as well. I wonder what it is that inspires so much abuse towards Diane Abbott.......Eat The Rich wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2019 2:52 pmOne does have to wonder why, of all the utter incompetents and charlatans that sit in parliament, you choose to call Diane Abbott the village idiot. Not sure why 2-300 thousand people entitled to vote should be given the opportunity to influence the vote of the remainder of the population. It’s no big loss if they don’t vote labour. Just another example of the minority becoming the liberal majority

Eat the rich, father ted , it’s bloody obvious why I refer to Abbott as the village idiot, she is just that. Nothing more sinister despite your inferences. If in doubt look at the video of her stating labour are going to employ police @ £3 per annum, or the one when confronted by Andrew marse as to why she voted against proscribing a list of terrorist organizations inc al queda, Islamic Jihad ect she says that some of them were just dissidents. When he individually named each organization and spoke of their atrocities and asker her specifically which of them were just dissidents she rambled on in her usual incoherent manner and couldn’t, or refused to answer. Among all the idiots I have seen in parliament she reigns supreme.

I’m not convinced the Torres will have a workable majority. Though I would be surprised if they weren’t the biggest party. Brexit apart, I sincerely hope Corbyn steps down. If so it will probably be the only good thing to come from this mess. The Brexit mess will just roll on and on. I’ve never been so sick of a word.Eat The Rich wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2019 2:26 pmIf he doesn't become PM and if it looks like the Tories are going to be a relatively stable government then yes, he will step down. The next leader will almost certainly be Angela Rayner imho just because the membership is not going to vote for a Right-Winger like Jess Phillips and the rest of the field doesn't look ready or willing. Then we'll see that the problem wasn't Corbyn because the hatchets will be out for Rayner just as much as they were for Corbyn. She'll be called a red under the bed, a terrorist loving, Britain hating, economically illiterate menace to public safety... and that'll be just Laura Kunsberg's article Hopefully the penny will eventually drop with people that the problem isn't Corbyn, or Ed Miliband or Angela Rayner or the Labour Party. The problem is that the news is run by vastly wealthy Tory donors who have a vested interest in a Tory government.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2019 2:20 pm After Labour gets stuffed in this election Corbyn will be swiftly removed as the leader of the Labour Party
Tbh I’ve not really looked at alternatives to Corbyn. Should he step down that will be an interesting situation.
As for your comments about us all being extremist, that is just beyond my comprehension. Sounds like an extremist justifying their own bias.
But I do switch allegiances, I thought Thatcher was exactly what this country needed at that time, equally I rated Blair too until he screwed up. Both made mistakes, both did a lot of good. Both light years ahead of the current knobs.

Its absolutely despicable how people have these double standards. The government you voted for and want people to vote for again is literally complicit in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of disabled people. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'll take no lecture from a Tory on ethics. If you voted for the party that brought us Universal Credit and humiliating disability assessments that are impossible to pass even if you're at deaths door then you are a total and utter scumbag. Its as simple as that. You forfeit the right to criticise or lecture anyone.

Yeah suppose so. But the Chief Rabbi only represents some 30% of his co-religionists. If anti semitism is such a big thing why are the ultra orthodox, liberal, progressive and reform congregations not issuing similar statements. I could see them possibly going for Kier. If Labour were to end up as the largest party in a hung parliament, I could see Labour securing SNP and Lib Dem support, but on condition that Corbyn walks. I can promise you, absolutely promise you, that Corbyn's position will not be on the negotiating table. He will go during the next parliament. I am sure of it. For christ's sake he'll be 75 if the next election isn't until 2024, if he were to stay until then and win that election and serve a full term as PM he'd be 79 by the time the next one rolls around! Its not going to happen. What Labour will not allow, though, is other parties to dictate who the Labour party leader is. Labour could just as easily turn around and say that Jo Swinson is an impediment to any agreement and only talk turkey if she got the boot. I don't think the LD's would react well and rightly so.Dunners wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2019 7:33 pmI could see them possibly going for Kier. No, the succession process will begin during the next parliament, and on Corbyn's terms, given the overwhelming good will that he still enjoys from the membership. Obviously if the election is a catastrophe he would step down immediately.
I don't think Kier Starmer wants to be leader, I don't think he has what it takes to be leader either. He's just too...dull. The labour movement wants to be inspired, its lifeblood is its activist base. If they aren't inspired then I think Labour struggles or it adopts the Blair approach and ditches ordinary people entirely and goes straight to the mega rich and starts handing out favours for cash.
If you fancy a flutter getcha money on Angela Rayner. Her main challenger will be Jess 'rent-a-gob' Phillips who will represent the right of the party. Dark horses are the fantastic Laura Pidcock and Richard Burgon. I'd think Pidcock over Burgon though.

Hundreds of thousands dead? Never heard that previously other than on here. Any links to prove this claim?
Universal credit will be taken forward by labour, with slight changes. It's on labour's own site.

It was really annoying as I wanted to hear her answers and she doesn't exactly evade questions they way a lot of them do.
Factoid - Neil went to the same school as my Mrs. She too often interrupts me.
