"Time moves on" as they say, but for many its pace is too much and they think back to when they were happiest. (Where have we seen this lately?) They refuse to conform to the way their society is going and retreat into a world of resistance and social exclusion. They would have heard from grandparents about being a kingdom and joining Germany in its fight to dominate Europe, but then became a Russian satellite and were regimented into being good 'communists'. Reprieved from that they had free elections only to find they had elected politicians and nothing much changed, joining the EU must have been the last straw with all those foreigners wandering in followed by waves of refugees. Can you wonder why they wouldn't want to go back a couple of generations? Better that, I suppose, than the clerics of all persuasions who seem to want to go back to the fourteenth century or even earlier.

Beradogs wrote: Tue Oct 15, 2019 8:59 am What is this “experience” of multiculturism” you talk about. The reason most people in this country have accepted it is because they have no choice. The British just have a habit of not complaining and are reserved. Don’t kid yourself that in the comfort of their own home and especially outside London, most people are pretty racist. It’s just hidden behind the twitching curtain. Not just Brits though. I have worked in plenty of countries. The Hong Kong people hate the Chinese. Singaporeans don’t like Malaysians. Americans hate Mexicans. Mexicans hate Colombians. The list is endless. It will never change. The difference between the Bulgarian supporters is that they don’t care saying it because they won’t be chucked into prison for a year + Eastern European governments actively encourage it. The papers take this morning is classic the British sh*t don’t stink. That we are exceptional as a race. We could be proud of our supporters for condemning it. It’s mainly because our supporters have spotters and hundreds of cameras panned on them. If they could get away with it a number would. A few nights before they tried to smash up Prague. I kind of get what Stockholm is trying to say although my mod job has just gone out the window.
You seem quite informed. Please enlighten me as to who the Kazakhs hate, or possibly the Uzbeks. There seems to be a lot of hating going on fella.
Seems to follow me about. Funny that.

England have been charged with booing the Bulgarian national anthem (why do we do that?) and failing to send enough strewards.

Make of that what you will.

I knew all that racism was England's fault. Fancy not sending stewards who have no legal authority in Bulgaria

There were plenty of bar stewards in the crowd from what I could see.

The problem with that is that the stories about a glorious past are nearly always false or shrouded in nostalgia.

I don't know the figures, but I can't imagine joining the EU led to an influx into Bulgaria- more likely the other way round.

Has anyone told the ERG?

Finally a man who talks sense, shame it’s a view not shared by the thunderheads in that stadium.

Popov the caption of the national team approached the fans at half time amd spoke for 10 mins and told them that we are 11v11 and the colour of your skin does not matter. He said they were not happy with him for saying that. Below is the full transcript of his interview.

The guy deserves a lot of respect for his action. Saw him on TV talking, now I understand what he was saying. Well done.

The Bulgarian Police have started arresting people giving Nazi salutes and making abusive noises. It’s a start, I hope they get them all.

Now the manager of the national team along with the whole Bulgarian executive committee resign. Are these attempts by the Bulgarian FA to appease UEFA and get a lighter sentence as I’ve not read about any kind of programme such as kick it out being brought to the fore, nor have we read about any punishment to the fans concerned. I know 6 have been arrested, but the problem was greater than that.

Therefore is this tokenism gestures?
