Normally love this guy & how he tells it, but had a close friend or a member of my families funeral had been disrupted like the pathetic idiot of a father did by chaining himself to a hearse, I'd kick the living crap out of him. There's protesting about ecological problems & there's being damn right disrespectful. I think we in the UK do a lot more than most. Are we responsible for the destruction of the amazon forest ? no.
Is it the norm to drive around in 5 & 6L engine trucks & cars as it is in the USA? again no.

Let's wait & see what the clean up operation is like after these Protests. I bet they won't be taking all their sh*t home with them
Yes, lets focus on the mess left by a few hundred protesters as the planet we live on is being destroyed.

Btw you are responsible for the mess in the Amazon. We all are.
I'm sure it's more than a few hundred. I'm Not saying that we shouldn't do things better, but when a small nation like the UK does our bit, isn't it rendered insignificant when a nation the the size of the USA are not doing as much. Instead of causing havoc in London shouldn't they be protesting in New York, Washington & LA to make their point ?
Trump isn't going to listen if it's not on his doorstep.

As far as I'm aware it is a world wide campaign. There are many millions of Americans who get the urgency of the situation and are campaigning too.

Trump is a stooge for the ruling class and the oil and gas companies. He's not interested in listening to anyone but the rich and powerful. He's bought and paid for by them.

of course they’re an inconvenience

They're only an inconvenience to those comfortable with destroying the planet. To the rest of us they are they only way forward. Until the West is brought to its knees we will never see true equality.

Oil and gas is always singled out, go research the clothing industry and the cultivation of palm oil then take a look closer to home and see our personal impacts too.

No. This week I'm focussing on oil & gas and their part in destroying the planet. Next week it's the car industry then aviation. Then old duffers who ruin the internet.

Wrong focus.

Why are they going for the west when China are building over 1500 coal powered power stations and India over 500, in the next couple of decades. The former depending on where you read already the largest emitter of greenhouse gases. Many in the west are focused on reducing greenhouse gases. Maybe not as fast as some would like, but we produce 1.8% of world emissions, China and India are easily going to cover that.

So they should be sticking themselves or whatever they enjoy, to the embassies of the worst culprits and the associated companies, petrol garages for example.

Wrong focus, more like a publicity stunt. They should look at the Greenham Common woman and look at a long term fight against those increasing emissions.

Still someone has to start somewhere with a protest and build it from there.

There is a massive financial cost associated with this protest in respect to the police. A drain on manpower as people are asked to cover this instead of doing their own jobs.

Usual bullshit response from people who don’t believe in the issue or don’t want to be inconvenienced.

These people have to get our government to act on the issue, not some other state.

Stills caranae, you are spot on. We as a country are emitting nothing like China or India.
Still, if we really want to do something positive, then let’s pass legislation that prohibits anyone under pension age , or is not disabled from owning, driving, or riding a motor driven vehicle, after all they are perfectly capable of walking or cycling.

Cows are more of a problem than cars. Should we therefore be forced to become vegan?

No one in power cares enough to find a solution. I think our country is trying, but when the usa pull out of agreements and no one holds them to account what chance do you have?

Re: Extinction Rebellion

I'm not sure it can ever be solved, but steps should be taken to improve what we do as humans so that we leave the planet in as good a position as it can be for our future generations to inherit and continue to work to find solutions in future.

We all need to try harder.
