First 3 games were against Bolton, Charlton and Birmingham, we narrowly lost because of a sh*t keeper. 3 draws in those games would have been excellent and well deserved results. The performances were good. Shrewsbury was sh*t, I’ll give you that. We’d be comfortably in the playoffs if it wasn’t for Zach Hemming.

The team lost all momentum several times this season because of international fixtures. October and then the ridiculous gap in November. There was no chance of relegation and everyone who thought so needs to gice their head a wobble.

Finishing 7th a massive achievement for this club and set of players, playoffs even more so.

RW has won the league with this club and a load of these players, a bit more respect needs to be given to him. Most of the criticism this year has been diabolical.
Hemming has proven that he isn't a crap keeper; he's doing well in Scotland. Moving down South and being hundreds of miles away from family, being so young AND having to get used to a new city quickly can affect people mentally. Not sure if people have actually considered this.
He cost Orient a lot of points this season, that’s a fact. He’s 25 and had played in Europe and at Celtic Park and Ibrox when he was younger. Orient is 54 miles further away from Middlesbrough than St Mirren is, barely anything.

Is he doing well at St Mirren?
10 games 12 conceded 2 clean sheets vs 13 games 22 conceded 3 clean sheets
I'm certainly not denying he cost us points this season. 54 miles may sound like a small amount but let's face it, it isn't. Also, the culture is different in Scotland to London...a culture that he has experienced and settled into. Again, people seem to have not considered this.

In terms of the stats, the table doesn't lie and conceding goals is not all down to the GK is it? If it was, Josh Keeley would be getting abuse.

Can someone please put up links to all the fudge ups he’s made for his new scotch team?

I've only seen him in highlights when he plays for St Midden at the Methodome Stadium. He is error prone.

To some extent he has probably been saved by his team doing reasonably well this season.

54 miles isn’t a lot, especially in footballing terms. He spent most of his time outside of London. He lived, trained and spent spare time in Essex. Its really baffling why he is so protected on here. He’s a 25 year old man, not an 18 year old kid.

Josh Keeley doesn’t get abuse because he’s done very well for Orient and hasn’t cost the team points due to very bad f*** ups.

This was so obviously not going to happen.
Take Keeley's header away and the season could easily have gone in a very different direction. Team was struggling to make chances or score, looked devoid of confidence and we had a run of games against the bottom 6 fodder that was make or break for the season.

Fortunately Josh goes up and scores, embarrassing banana skin avoided, confidence returns and they put all the fodders away and climbed the table with a fun FA Cup run along the way.

It’s a nice little box to put the improvement in. The reality is that the team was always better than it’s position then and would have finished roughly in the same place with or without keeleys header

Due to the Sky Scums Streaming deal I got to see a lot of matches this season. Although we lost I thought we played very well at Brentford and I turned to my cat and predicted good times ahead. Since then it's been nearly purrfect.

Exactly.

The inprovement had started already anyway. Just look at results before the Oldham game (when we were actually really bloody awful, to be fair).

It's moments that turn seasons. The knock on for morale had they lost that tie was something RW touched on in one of the interviews knowing what the reaction would've been.

Small margins change seasons, a bit like how two OGs by rock-bottom Cheltenham in added time got the squad out of a losing rut the previous season.

Are we saying that that goal meant we would have finished 6th or 7th regardless of the fitness, Jan transfer window, in game tactics, quality of the squad?

Sure it had a minor impact but to attribute it to a really great season is nuts

Nope, I'd say the difference between smashing all those relegation fodder teams over Xmas and getting into the top half vs. a scrap at the bottom with fanbase divided over the manager's future. Read back some of the threads from that time and imagine a lame FA Cup exit on top.

Also take away the prize and TV money from said cup run and the knock ons for January window budget too.

Remember how it was said that the Charlton last minute loss affected the squad and put that context into losing to a non-league side.

Of course it's all conjecture but that moment for me was when the season trajectory changed.

There’s some sort of strange unspoken law here about what you can and can’t say about GKs. If they are 25 year old loanees you can absolutely hammer them. If they are 27 year olds who should be playing the conference south you’re not allowed to criticise them.

It’s all a bit arbitrary.

In uncanny coincidence Richie mentions turning points in the season in his match preview. Oldham and Barnsley specifically
