Re: Elon Musk Watch
Suggesting that the ultra, ultra wealthy have a self-preservation interest in pushing things ever further right is hardly out there. Or even remotely interesting.
What is unusual though is to have the wealthy guy as the mouthpiece and for it all to be carried out so, er, transparently. He's going to put all these shadowy Westminster thinktanks out of business if he keeps this up.

Re: Elon Musk Watch
It’s not out there at all.
What you said however was that it was all a ruse to “preserve his multi billionaire status”. Which I would say, given he’s worth circa $426 billion, isn’t exactly at risk regardless of whether Keir Starmer or [insert racist party] is running the UK.
I assume now that this was just hyperbole

I don't think Musk really gives a sh*t about the girls in Oldham. Nor the people of Germany.Currywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 9:23 am It’s not out there at all.

I do think Musk would like to see all 'major' economies of the world retain right wing Governments, personally moving the Overton window ever further rightwards to help facilitate this. It's the lefties who are going to tax him hard/ban billionaires etc when things start to get really ropey for everyone in the coming years.
I've tried to be as clear and concise as possible.....

“Ban billionaires” - Whose policy is this and where do they stand a chance of getting elected?

Re: Elon Musk Watch
I've no idea what he's playing at. But it's possible that he sees the UK government as relatively isolated right now, so prime for a bit of trolling to test the boundaries of what he can get away with.
Re: Elon Musk Watch
He’s also of English heritage so maybe he’s just standing up for what he thinks would be beneficial to the UK ![Jack [##]](./images/smilies/flag-united-kingdom_1f1ec-1f1e7.png)

Using child sexual abuse as a political football is risible and smearing politicians as being complicit or facilitating it should be called out in the strongest possible terms

He is South African, so should perhaps turn his attention to the horrendous numbers of rapes in his own country and work some of his magic thereCurrywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 10:50 am He’s also of English heritage so maybe he’s just standing up for what he thinks would be beneficial to the UK![]()

Re: Elon Musk Watch
Being known just for his riches probably offers no excitement now, so he goes to extremes to get headlines and attention in other ways.
Remember his plans to rescue the Thai boys' football team stuck in a cave and how he slagged off the people who DID manage the rescue?
In a school class he would probably get detention for his aggression and destructive behaviour. Would other children like him? Probably not.

Hmmm. Interesting development from Meta.

Meta will get rid of factcheckers, “dramatically reduce the amount of censorship” and recommend more political content on its platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and Threads, founder Mark Zuckerberg has announced.
In a video message, Zuckerberg vowed to prioritise free speech after the return of Donald Trump to the White House and said that, starting in the US, he would “get rid of factcheckers and replace them with community notes similar to X”.
