Fuxin joke last 6 mins against 10. Didn’t even get it in their box, with 2 free kicks!

No real surprise That our best results have been away, one up front not working but what summed us up tonight is on 90 minutes we get a free kick on half way Exeter retreat waiting for the ball in the box and we play sideways, sometimes rather than try and score the perfect goal you just got to load it in the box.

Pretty even game with one of our closer peers in the division, in which they found one piece of clinical play - and we absolutely went to jelly any time we were in their box.

100%. We were not good but Cooper has missed a header from 4 yards.

First half we were decent enough, fluffed 2-3 excellent chances but gave away a stinker of a goal.

What was more concerning was how rubbish we looked chasing the game. Wellens tactical rejig didn't work at all, the subs apart from Clare were poor and we were so easy to defend against.

Cooper gave away the ball four times in areas which caused problems, a poor substitution for me.

Terrible performance, we are what we are, a team who will be in relegation battle all season, who cannot score goals.
Typical Orient, we get 2 good draws v 2 top half teams, then the game we expect to win v Exeter at home, to back up the 2 draws, we lose!
Subs made no impact on the game whatsoever, and we didn’t threaten Exeter in last few mins when they went down to 10 men, so disappointing.
It’s going to be a very long hard and frustrating season.

Our passing and finishing in the final third was appalling. Where was our so called forward players when we were attacking ( on the wings). Thought when Graham came on he would at least get some crucial balls into the box. He still looked scared of receiving the ball and played within 1 metre of the touch line. RW got it wrong with his starting line up. Really poor points tally at home will cost us . Luckily the 4 teams at the bottom lost.

Basically this. Looked clueless after half time and they were entirely comfortable for the moag part despite displaying an incredible tendancy to repeatedly pass the ball straight off the pitch.

Don’t agree That’s 4 clean sheets in a row for them . Can’t be that bad. We didnot know how to break through their defence .When we did our finishing was very poor.

Pretty sure we will be fine but will struggle against anyone who nicks a goal and is happy to sit back. Kelman was dreadful in front of goal and there is a real lack of goal threat with O'Neil off the boil and Agyei falling out of favour with Wellens.

Huge advocate for Wellens but he deserves the criticism he'll get for that second half. No idea what he thought matching Exeter's formation was going to do once they were ahead, they could sit back compact and show our wide players to the byline knowing that we don't have an aerial threat or anyone to really threaten from central midfield.

Thought they were defensively sound and knew when to break. Not amazing but set up to nullify us well.

Just putting this out here: is Graham actually that good? People constantly hyping him on here but all he ever does is whip in balls that are easily cleared. Have we ever scored from one of his crosses?

And why has Ollie O’Neil apparently regressed as a footballer since last season?

Man of the match should have gone to that Exeter bloke who got sent off for an outrageous challenge then pretended to be injured instead of going off. Ref had no control over this game whatsoever. Was amusing.

Don't care about their previous games, they couldn't complete a pass tonight. Dreadful. And yet still pretty comfortable.

After the way we've been playing lately tonight's result is really disappointing . We seem like a very shot shy team and very wasteful in front of goal . I said at the beginning of the season I thought we were a striker short . I'll stick by my pre season prediction that we'll bring in a new striker during the January transfer window .

We're two short as Perkins just needs to be sent back. Alas we're also paying for at least one player to not be here (due to having to cover a chunk of Moncur and Pigott's wages)

We had loads of shots but somehow never looked like scoring. We've played a lot worse, we just have no plan in the final third

Exeter were well drilled, had physicality all over the pitch and competed for everything. Not much flair but they’ll easily be top half.

Graham looks finished to me. Was it him who just booted it into their keepers arms from the halfway line at the end?

O'Neill has gone from a player scoring almost every game last season to no threat at all.

Red card- just when you think you've seen it all, amazing.

Top of the JES wrote: Tue Oct 01, 2024 8:33 pm 4-2-3-1 works really well for us away from home when we can spring forward but when we are at Brisbane Road we struggle to make a lot of clear cut chances playing against teams who sit a bit deeper.
And get hit on the break.

Ball looks like the sort of midfielder who will be able to control the game at home for us - we haven’t had that yet.

We’ve had four decent performances and results, securing 8 points from them which would be automatic promotion form.

We put it one sub par performance and lose and this is the reaction?

I honestly don’t get the love in for Graham. I’m constantly being told how good he is, but I’ve yet to see any real evidence of it. I’ve certainly never seen him have a meaningful impact on a game.

I thought Exeter looked a decent side, certainly way better than Wrexham
Their ‘keeper, on loan from Palace, I think, was excellent and made two top saves.
Our finishing was poor, but they were far from Dogsh1t
