Graeme Souness who won 5 league titles & 3 European Cups said something similar in 1 of the documentaries on Cloughie.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 3:58 pmAndersonitis wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 3:50 pm Only a few tuffers,

How about Carlton Palmer and Mark Wright?
Carlton Palmer was a MidfirelderDisoriented wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 7:48 pmHow about Carlton Palmer and Mark Wright?
You can say he's one of the best, but better than Ferguson? Do me a favour.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 7:00 pmGraeme Souness who won 5 league titles & 3 European Cups said something similar in 1 of the documentaries on Cloughie.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 3:58 pmAndersonitis wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 3:50 pm Only a few tuffers,

Asked the question about taking a small midlands team to the heights of league champions & twice European champions , he would be hard pushed to disagree cloughie wasnt 1 of if not the best.
He was really good mates with Mark Warren back in the day, so if it was in he 90s when he was playing for us, it’s very possible.
Exactly, no-one would give him a shot elsewhere so he took on a task most thought a lost cause and turned it around. Earnt his stripes and deserves a shot at a more stable club to see what he's capable of building in a longer-term project.Joe_Mayo wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 10:10 pm No doubt Campbell.performed a minor miracle in saving Macclesfield from relegation last Season. There's obviously a lot of grief going on with staff not being paid and a number of players suing .the club this week. He clearly can't see the situation improving so he's called it a day.
Under the circumstances he's done a great job.
Im only saying what a 5 time league champion winner & a 3 time European Cup winner said .BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 9:13 pmYou can say he's one of the best, but better than Ferguson? As I’ve discovered after reading 90% of the people posting on heretuffers#1 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 12:37 amNor does being a Leyton Orient fan
If a manager can inspire a "pub side & favourites for relegation" to beat Orient by three goals, then he wouldn't be the worst candidate.

Bobby Charlton same
Bobby Moore same
However Campbell achievement last year was just tremendous as everyone agrees
I hope RE is successful but only time will tell
Campbell must have that special quality to inspire players because what he achieved could not of been through any other way
If I remember the greatest manager was Brian Clough and he did not start very well at Hartlepool in his first season
Ferguson also had a poor first season and he nearly got sacked
It's just not fair to create more pressure on everyone at Lofc by not letting RE settle in and let him have a fair go.
There is no pressure as such and I am sure he will be given a fair run, but he has been named as "interim" head coach. The hope is that he gets a few good results early on and shows he is a good choice, but if it doesn't work out he has been told he can return to being an assistant.UpminsterO wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 12:16 pm It's just not fair to create more pressure on everyone at Lofc by not letting RE settle in and let him have a fair go.

Maybe not in England, but Aberdeen's toppling of the Old Firm shouldn't be discounted. Scottish football was more superior back then. 3 titles and a cup winners cup isn't bad.Andersonitis wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 12:42 pm

Something Ferguson has not done so no fluke,
