Really can’t see this happening and have to say that I’ve been disappointed in our transfer business thus far.Dan A seems the only one that proposes a goal threat to me. The club have been struggling for a real goal scorer for the last 3 or so seasons and our top scorer only just got into double figures last season. Disappointed that we haven’t signed a permanent goalkeeper of quality, disappointed that we haven’t signed a good left back with pace and a quality forward who is capable of getting at least 15/20. We have let go our top scorer for a fee and got fees for a couple of other players. We were promised exciting signings but apart from the kid from Everton can’t say that it’s got my juices flowing. If people think that Kelman scoring 4/5 against poor opposition is the answer? Lets see how he does against decent league one teams. For me putting it simply RW hasn’t prioritised in the right positions but that’s not to say that I don’t think he isn’t a good and is probably our best manager we have had for years. Time will tell and I’m hoping that I may be proved wrong. However I do think we have a strong enough team to finish mid table.

You maybe correct but I can’t see the club putting there hand in there pocket for players and all the best free’s have been snapped up long ago. So who or what positions do think they will be addressing because I can’t see it myself plus the fact that the season starts next week and RW is always banging on about bringing players in early to bond.

Kelman will better Sotiriou's goal scoring tally from last season.

Monkey, we have a budget, which we will stick to.

But we cannot complete with the likes of Peterborough and Wrexham. Peterborough had a player who they thought they had signed and Wrexham gazumped them offering £3k a week more!

So we have to be patient.

We hope so but in my opinion we're still one striker short . If Agyei gets injured again we're in trouble .

Hi Still’s not suggesting we have loads of money but my point is that we have dragged our feet and missed out on some good free’s also was promised exciting signings plus RW himself said we need to get our signings done early. Now if people think we have got exciting signings fair enough but not for me. Did we get our business done early?not for me. Are there many quality free’s available?again not for me. But hope your correct and I’m proved wrong

I agree Monkey . In my opinion the squad still isn't strong enough . If the club really thinks we're good enough in the striker positions we're in trouble this season . We've only got Agyei and I don't think Kelman is good enough . We definitely need another decent striker being brought in . A season long loan would do .

I imagine we will bring in one more striker before the window closes but I suspect it will most likely be a prem / champ youngster loanee in the Shaq Forde mold. Id be very surprised if we signed another senior striker who will essentially be sitting on the bench. Kelman and Agyei will be the preferred starting pair.

Kelman looked more of a goal threat than Dan A last night. I guess once you have your detractors and Kelman has plenty on this board it’s hard to change minds. Two classy finishes last night which get barely a mention from the people talking him down.

100% this .
You'd have to think that the starting XI last night will be our starting XI for the beginning of the season..... I guess we'll see on Saturday v Dagenham.

It could be that some of the choices - DJ over Ollie O'Neill in the 10, Sweeney over James at LB - were final chances to see how they fared. But it definitely looks as if we're going with this 4-3-1-2 to get Kelman on the pitch.
I thought Cooper and Simpson at the back was a complete no?

I trust RW’s judgement, he sees Kelman every day in training and he knows exactly what he is capable of.
Just hope we can sign Charlie and the end of what should be a very good season for him.
We still need another striker though, Agyei will have to be managed in terms of minutes, if not he will be out for another lengthy spell.
Agree with you about Kelman

Give over. Great second strike - and all of his own making too - but the first was a straight forward finish after excellent work out wide (by Brown?) He then missed a couple of much easier one on ones.

If we're playing this new formation with 2 up top, I don't mind Kelman starting. But there's arguably even more need for another striker if that is the case.

Who said that? ;)

Did you watch last night? Cooper was ok last night - and arguably our more direct way of playing will suit him better - but the other 3 were not great, so who knows what it'll be come Saturday week...

Played centrally alone (with OO'N left and Pegs right of him), glides around a bit, difficult to judge as only up against kids.

Tottenham had a couple of big lumps up top - the 9 and 10 - who looked like they could do a job and are more suited to mens football any time soon.

Admittedly didn’t see last night’s game but like I’ve said about Kelman let’s see what he can do against seasoned experienced league one defenders. I’ve seen him plenty of times the season before last and I can tell you from my perspective he’s no goal poacher or fox in the box. Yes a hard worker not denying that but just doesn’t possess that goal instinct. He may have a golden couple of games?but he won’t be consistent throughout the season and doing it in training isn’t the same as doing it when it matters. We should of kept Drinan if you want a player that works hard at closing defenders down because that’s all Kelman will do.

Not necessarily a bad thing considering how impotent we looked at times last season. If Richie has learnt and wants to change our style I’m up for watching that unfold.

Hoover Attack wrote: Tue Jul 30, 2024 11:17 pm It was mostly men against boys for the first 65 minutes. We pressed spurs hard. Really hard. And it worked, we kept turning the ball over deep in their half, they were unable to play through us.

We were a lot more direct than we have been. Playing 4-3-3 meant no wingers so no real width and no moving the ball from side to side. Everybody’s first thought was to go forward. Agyei and Kelman kept looking for balls behind their defence. Not sure if that’s just because spurs played so high like their senior team or what we’ll see all season.

Kelman should have had a third - an easier chance than his goals - but missed, they then went down the other end and Simpson f*cked up, gifting them a way back into the game.

There was a complete swap out on 65 minutes which highlighted the deficiencies in the squad. James, Pratley, Obeiro and ONeill are fine. Perkins, Pegrum and all the other kids aren’t.

All 4 CBs were a bit wonky tonight. Not sure what’s going on there, thought that was our strongest area. Cooper the best of the bunch, Beckles the worst.
How was Warrington in midfield looking and our new keeper?

Keeper had bugger all to do. Distribution was fine.

Warrington played central with Ethan left and Brown right. They both pressed high, he held. Played ok I guess. Steady, no frills. Looked like a seasoned old pro, not a kid.

Streaming very jerky.
More good than bad performances.
Hemming looked solid.
James very steady and I thought Jayden looked stronger than last season.
Cooper was good as was Dan Happe when he came on.
Simpson spoiled a steady 1st half with a couple of mistakes one of which led to their goal but he'll be fine.
Williams for Spurs looked lively.
Omar always gives me the wobbles!
Prats - what a pro!
Kelman looked sharp - 2 good finishes but missed the easier chance for a hat-trick.
Perkins got better throughout the 2nd half showing some good interplay but needs to strengthen up.
Obiero should have a great future!
Gailbraith and Brown very steady - I love them both!
I thought Warrington impressed with his energy and presence.
Ollie nearly scored a third late on.
DJ showed flashes of quality but not sustained.
Dan A was sharp but we are holding our breath whenever he goes down after last season.
Bullas was nervous at first but steadied - obviously will get stronger over the next year.
Pegrum hardworking but hard to know where his best position is.
I liked the look of Clare - athletic and a decent touch and got forward well.
Going to stick my neck out and say that Phil Chinedu looks a very good prospect. Played at left full back but could play left centre back and built like brick house - Ogie but taller.
Pitch was good.
Nice to see Wayne Burnett as Spurs u21 manager - what a player he was for us but never saw the best of him in an Os shirt.
I hope I haven't missed anyone out.
RW was away watching Bolton .
PT said he knew nothing about incoming players and that Moncs had been unwell for the last 2 days.
Well done to the Edinburgh family - I still get choked up about Justin!

I thought Warrington impressed with his energy and presence. YEAH, HE HAS PRESENCE, THAT'S THE WORD. SAT AND DOMINATED THE MIDDLE LIKE AN OLD PRO - ENERGY CAME FROM GALBRAITH AND BROWN WHO COVERED SO MUCH GROUND IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE

DJ showed flashes of quality but not sustained. THOUGHT HE WAS VERY QUIET. NOT SURE THAT DEEP LYING CENTRAL ROLE SUITS HIM.
Dan A was sharp but we are holding our breath whenever he goes down after last season.
Bullas was nervous at first but steadied - obviously will get stronger over the next year. NOT GOING TO TROUBLE THE MATCHDAY SQUAD, NEEDS A STEP 2 LOAN TO LEARN THE GAME

I wouldn't read anything into the starting 11 against the U21s. With a few exceptions, the newest signings, it was the pros that played 30 minutes against Torremolinos, who started and got 60 mins, and vice versa. Just spreading game time between the players. Been consistent with Agyie and Kelman, so I guess that's the way we'll be going. I guess the last proper friendly against Dagenham will be the biggest clue to our starting 11. I don't expect any of our starting 11, or even bench players (goalie excepted) to play as Cheshunt. Not in the know, just my opinion.
