I think we all do - but given that we want established quality and don't want to groom it we shop at clubs above us generally.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 11:36 pm All very reasonable points, I’m not claiming it’s ann easy process but even Richie has said he wanted to do things quicker this window.
Ritchie does not want the sort of player these cubs are signing, because it will not reflect the type of football he wants us to play. He also knows we can't pay 40% more than our top earners to get them either. In that he's a realist - and we should be realists too.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 10:29 amI agree . I wonder how many good players we've missed out on because we were too slow .Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 9:15 am I go back to the fact that the club hold back to save on wages and now perhaps people will believe. We have already missed out on some good signings to clubs like Bristol Rovers, Lincoln,Wycombe and Stevenage, hardly clubs that you would think that can out muscle us in the transfer market imo. I’m wondering if Mr Wellens is regretting his decision to sign a new contract
How many ‘established quality’ players have we brought in under Richie? (The sort that we’d be competing with other clubs to sign and paying big ish money).LittleMate wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 9:51 pmI think we all do - but given that we want established quality and don't want to groom it we shop at clubs above us generally.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 11:36 pm All very reasonable points, I’m not claiming it’s ann easy process but even Richie has said he wanted to do things quicker this window.
Last year was different. Although we lost Smyth, Vigs and Kelman we kept all 5 out of contract players. We probably "pushed the penny down the line" as loan replacements largely filled the void (I'd count El Miz in the equation of players Ritchie brought in btw). It means this year there's more to do.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 10:03 pmHow many ‘established quality’ players have we brought in under Richie? Moncur for the promotion season. Agyei for last season. Is that it?
Mostly it’s unproven/injured/out of form players with something to prove, because they will fit our budget. El Miz, Galbraith, ONeill, Graham, Cooper, Simpson, Piggot (oof).
