Not sure Piggot is a pressing player or ever will be ?
Piggot is.
The work he got through on Saturday - where he was breaking out to left wing to stop their RB playing out, leaving Big George to catch his breath centrally - was really impressive, considering he's still playing catch up. (Although couldn't do it for a full 90 minutes yet).

Theo absolutely can play as a wing back. His defensive work is exemplary. The only issue is you don't see him in the opposition half as often as you'd like.
We could keep 3 and ditch the wing-backs. City play a 3-2-4-1, we could adopt that if Richie is brave enough....

City also have SLIGHTLY more players to call upon !

But you know they're restricted to fielding just 11 at any one time, the same as us, right?

Theo has looked his best as a wing back imo. He's not the best at taking his man on and is a bit patchy in terms of receiving the ball, but can run for days, has a cracking cross on him and benefits from the extra yard to whip a ball in that playing deep allows for.
In a city like set up, James does the coming central deep playmaker role, Archibald pushes up and whoever is DM sits back to cover defensively by sitting deep alongside James. Once Galbraith is up to speed presumably that's where he plays, allowing Mizouni to push up and contribute offensively as a sort of league 1 Gundogan, and Moncur as a chubby De Bruyne.

Yes 11 at only one time with about a choice of over 30 players to pick, many of whom are internationals.

I'd still go with James in the back 3. Mainly because all of the natural CBs are left footed.
Turns may well have a future as one of the the two DMs in this line up, if it does take off.
It's disappointing we didn't make that new signing Richie was talking about this week . With our current injury problems we could have done with them today .

The club only has between now and Friday night to sign another player or two . I wonder how fine they will end up cutting it
They're just counting up how many burgers were sold last Saturday before they commit.

Waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting.
Some things never change.
Have you never witnessed a transfer deadline before. Basically nothing much happens and then on the last day it all happens as clubs compromise on what they are willing to pay and receive. I suspect that QPR probably want to offload Kelman and we want him and it hasn't happened yet as the clubs haggle over compensation, so may well happen Friday. With Orient's summer budget spent already, not expecting anything dramatic to happen, unless we get decent money or wage saving for a senior player going out. If so wouldn't be surprised if we make a transfer profit. I suspect that Saturdays performance just gone has taken some of the panic and transfer desire away.

We still absolutely need at least 1 more CB. If one of the current lot gets injured we’re in trouble. If two of them are out then we’re totally f*cked

At least 1 more CB?
We have 3 plus Brown and James who have both performed really well there. We also have the perma-injured Thompson.

Definitely.
Agreed, one swallow does not a summer make, having said that Wycombe Charlton and Cambridge should easily finish below us probably and at least half a dozen more as well.
We've signed what, 10 players this summer? More than any year since the summer after Bechetti f*cked off and we had to rebuild the squad.
Another center back to account for Thompson's perma injury and cover for Theo would be ideal but really wouldn't be bothered if we didn't do anything by close of play tomorrow. Need to save some money for January when we'll have a better sense of where the squad isn't good enough.
Why the need from everyone for a CB?
We have Happe, Turns, Beckles
James & Brown can also play CB.
Surely a FB is more important?
We only have James, Hunt and Sweeney?
Thompson, imo will be released or sent out on loan when fit.
We all know Kelman is coming in, probably tomorrow or Friday.
Just hope we get a FB, we need to ensure Galbraith can be utilised in CM and not FB or WB, so we can unleash him in CM with Sanders when fit and El Miz.
I’m being greedy, a winger, cover for Theo would be nice, but 3 players is being very optimistic and greedy, I’ll settle for 2 (forward and FB).
