My first look at him yesterday. Looked a bit shaky early on but made some cracking saves and overall looked pretty good.Friend or faux wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 10:07 am The Rev, asks:- Why Did We Sign Howes?
On the evidence of yesterdays highlights at Blackpool, because he is a bloody good goalkeeper. Terrible the way that some "supporters" dive in after the poor geezer is thrown in at the deep end and unsurprisingly has a shaky start. All you snides who jumped in there, hang your heads in shame, please

Yes and It has now been noted as an individual to avoid.
He had a couple of stinkers in his first games, and he had a good game yesterday. Let’s hope he builds on the good game.Friend or faux wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 10:07 am The Rev, asks:- Why Did We Sign Howes?

No need to get so emotional over some people making some observational based criticism of his early performances.
I do find it strange how people like you will chastise others for saying a player isn’t that great after a couple of performances (which is fair criticism), but the same player has one good game and suddenly, according to you they are amazing. Can’t have it both ways pal.
As somebody else pointed out, this alias really isn’t working fella.Joe315 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 5:32 pmComplaining about someone throwing the toys out of the pram because they complained about someone throwing toys out of the pram-Marvellous.The Reverend wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 5:06 pmHe had a couple of stinkers in his first games, and he had a good game yesterday. NoOyinbO wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 8:05 am Glad that everyone now thinks that Howes is amazing, based on a clean sheet (they missed two sitters, one of which he presented them with) and the Club tweeting how amazing he was right after the game.
Now, are you keeping him in the side when Brynn is fit again?
We signed him because he was going to be used as back up and that’s whats happened unfortunately, why we haven’t signed a permanent keeper or decent CB permanently is beyond me, perhaps it’s because of the budget or Richie likes to pack the squad out with midfielders? As for his behaviour I fully agree but on the other hand I like his passion and like to see him on the touch line barking orders(must be obeyed at all times) rather than a manager just sitting there with note book in hand. His only weakness that I’ve observed is his stubbornness not to change formations or to bring players on in a game when not needed. I think we will get something out of the game Saturday but all depending if the players are available or if we sign anyone by then?Loin Cloth Lenny wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 8:46 am I don’t know why we signed this guy but I tell you that at this rate we will be going straight back where we came from unless we tighten up at the back. I know it is only early days but we need to get a grip now. We knew it was not going to be an easy ride but we need to get to mid table quick. I hope the boss has not lost interest and run out of ideas already. On the subject of the boss, discipline starts at the top and filters down and it is nothing more than a disgrace that he shows such a poor example to the youngsters under his command. We must beat Cambridge and ignore the fact that they are at the opposite end of the table. If we do beat them I think it will be a decisive moment and show that we can get our backside in gear.
You make some good points and hope that Howes continues to improve and if so, then we may be in the position of having two decent keepers to choose from. 100% correct............. why we haven’t signed a permanent keeper...and especially . Note that ex Os Brophy is still holding a regular place in the Cambridge side as a wing-back !
James Brophy, ex Os player ''Brophy was offered a new deal as his contract was due to be up at the end of June 2021 however he decided to turn down the offer to join Cambridge United F.C. 00:59 So nice to see a keeper coming off his line to deal with balls coming into the 6 yard box !Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 9:02 amWe signed him because he was going to be used as back up and that’s whats happened unfortunately, why we haven’t signed a permanent keeper or decent CB permanently is beyond me, perhaps it’s because of the budget or Richie likes to pack the squad out with midfielders? Well he won title , budget limited, could be hoping for new horizons. Loyalties seem to be broken with better offers, I have seen it too many times in football in all leagues top to bottom. We have ti wait and see but we cannot languish at the bottom as heads go down and hard to raise spirits so next game must be a win.FrankOFile wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 12:02 pmLost interest? Because we are playing Cambridge this Saturday and he might well be playing in that game against the Os, no big deal, just a thing of interest !FrankOFile wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 12:01 pmYes, I know who Brophy is.
