I mean, I don’t want Southend to fold, but a fan of a rival club being a bit dim and extending the rivalry to laughing at a club’s dire mismanagement might be stupid but it’s not exactly grossly offensive, is it?
Very nasty, inconsiderate and rather childish thing to say, especially so after the trauma of what the Leyton Orient club, their players and supporters went through when the club nearly folded up just a few years ago. Long established football clubs going out of business is happening too often now, same thing also happening to old established companies, so awful for all those affected, losing their jobs etc, nothing to poke fun at.

It is about the 10th stay of execution in the last 10 years or so . Southend fans have only seemed bothered the last 2 or 3 . I dont know about that but perhaps after living on the edge for so long they may have thought the crisis could somehow be resolved in time. No matter, hope springs eternal and hope the club does not go out of business altogether.Equaliser0 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 11:12 amIt is about the 10th stay of execution in the last 10 years or so . Re: Southend FC
I Seem to rember a pending case when we played them in the southern section final , however long ago that was . Youd think supporters would have organised prolonged protests after 2 or 3 scrapes with the tax man . How many chances did they want ?Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 11:21 amI dont know about that but perhaps after living on the edge for so long they may have thought the crisis could somehow be resolved in time. That’s true it’s just a shame for the loyal supporters,it’s also good from a social aspect, gets people out at weekends but your only going to like you said “ get so many chances “Equaliser0 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 11:35 amI Seem to rember a pending case when we played them in the southern section final , however long ago that was . Loyal fans could get out & protest like Coventry & Blackpool did & hurt Ronnies pockets , He'd sell up then .Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 12:53 pmThat’s true it’s just a shame for the loyal supporters,it’s also good from a social aspect, gets people out at weekends but your only going to like you said “ get so many chances “Equaliser0 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 11:35 amI Seem to rember a pending case when we played them in the southern section final , however long ago that was . Hard to say what his actual motive is? Can’t be money? Does he own the ground? Can’t understand why he just doesn’t sell up

The fact that you don't get it says a fair bit about your ethics, upbringing and humanity. Standing by and failing to challenge anti-social behaviour is perhaps the bigger crime and is a significant cause of social instability. I hope you're in a small minority.

Re: Southend FC
Ron Martin has been taking the absolute p**s out of SUFC for what seems like decades now. They’ve been a basket case for as long as I can remember, and it’s clear he’s only in it for what he can get out of it (sound familiar, anyone?) but it may be that he’d got himself in too deep to get out of it. If he does let the club go bust and he walks away with £10m then I hope he gets himself some bulletproof knee guards.

Re: Southend FC
To cancel a friendly game at this stage of the of pre season is a worry.. Is it because they cannot field a team because of injuries I doubt it or is it because they were planning a demonstration against Ron Martin and he called it off.I cannot see the National League letting this go by as they start the season games in 3 weeks. They do not have enough contracted players to fulfil the NL requirements.Real ShaEliotNes wrote: ↑Sat Jul 15, 2023 8:15 am The latest episode

Re: Southend FC
Covid really hit him hard financially according to some Southend fans . I Just dont get how they didnt do much to oust him after the 2nd or 3rd court case on tax . His 10 th or 11th seems to have brought action .Stowaway wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 2:30 pm Ron Martin has been taking the absolute p**s out of SUFC for what seems like decades now. The protest is outside Martin's home, not at the game

Re: Southend FC
Looks like they may be another Bury.
Cant see how they can play in the National League if they havent got enough players, and no money to even pay the ones they already have.
Unlike some here, I remember them being deliriously happy when we got relegated twice in 3 seasons, to non league, and I also remember them smashing our ground up, after they scored a late late equalizer in that 2 legged game a few years ago
I shed no tears at their imminent demise
