We could do with another wide player, JMD will be our most creative midfielder.
We need lots more reinforcements - our recruitment has been seriously inadequate so far.
Lots more, really? Maybe a wide player who can play Central if need be and a midfielder. We don't need lots of players
Lots more - yes. We are deficient up front, seriously deficient in midfield and have no real cover at left back.

Sounds like a p*ss poor display against a team that we should be beating by a hatful of goals, feel sorry for the O's supporters that have gone to the game and bean so badly let down !!

Ling might be seen as the new central midfielder at this rate.

Bit concerned that we won't have a really difficult test to see how we are faring. Norwich XI next week, but on the same day they are sending a team to Luton so I'd expect only a team of U23s from them who we should beat.

Also seems a shame that us and Spurs could not come together to play a friendly for Justin and his family before the season starts. Hopefully a massive event is being planned still, but it doesn't seem the same if it was held in 6 months when clubs might have other worries.

So we don't play Brill, McAnuff, Clay, Gorman, JMD, Wilkinson, and Angol all who would probably start or be in the 18 if fit against Cheltenham and most who will play against Bishops Stortford in midweek. Give minutes to players who need them come away with another clean sheet and the usual moaners pop up because it's not good enough.

For anyone who goes to pre season games expecting us to play like Barcelona against a team two levels below us with a side half full of young pros and fringe players you need a reality check. Friendlies are predominantly about fitness you will likely see our starting eleven begin the game against Norwich under 23s next Saturday, we might even have a new face or two in by then. Would have thought one or two at least would have learnt from last season when we were allegedly short of players, not good enough and not having Ebou Adams in the team was going to cost us.

When he scores we need to give him a 5 year deal .

We need to find a song
Who will score 1st this season
( not pre season)

Alabi or Widdowson

Maybe to this tune

Cant read too much into friendlies, but i'm going to.

Find it interesting that the last 3 games, we've kept a clean sheet and not scored many. Usually pre-season is full of goals, like 6-5s. Partly because you set out to be attacking and score goals. I wonder if this is a sign of things to come and we know our defence is our strong point. Keep it real tight and hope for a goal, rather than attack from the off. Be interesting to see how we start the season, especially as our first two are winnable games.

We all know it’s a nothing game but it has value. A chance for fringe players, those we may rely on, during a long hard season to show what they can do like Sargent and of course we had a number of probable starters playing.

If people feel there is nothing to be learned from these games fine. But you need to look a little deeper. Ross gave all three second string strikers a go. They contributed very little. Wright spent most of the game playing sideways and by and large our midfield created nothing. Sure no major issue in a friendly but not positive when considering competition for places. Not much.

What I learned from the game is god help us when we lose our main strikers and little competition for the main spots. Didn’t see many of the fringe players giving Ross difficult choices

Another thought. Jobi seems focused on his coaching role

I doubt we will see him much next season unless the sh*t hits the fan. Missing game time so you have to wonder if our best player is not going to play

Tbf not too much difference last season. And our two replacements up front may do well. Hope so.

Brill and McAnuff haven't played a minute of pre-season thus far, no suggestion they'll suddenly spring up any time soon ready for the real games to start.

As said numerous times we won't be playing tinpot crap sides this season who were in awe of playing a team as "big" as Orient. If we're short of options to change a game we'll be punished and we look very thin on the ground for quality outside of the starting XI.

Of course it has value but time to judge us is when we have our strongest eleven on the pitch. We know there are weak areas and with two weeks still to go time to strengthen.

This was also our third game in four days not ideal but obviously having to move the Hornchurch game was understandable because of Justins memorial. It's getting minutes into legs that is important at this time of the season if our starting eleven are poor against Norwich next week then I might feel more inclined to worry.

We all know this is not our strongest team though 6 of the 10 outfield players are key players. A decent number. We also know it’s about minutes and not getting injured. But the opposition weren’t exactly going for it either. Suggest to me we have very little depth

Very condescending to call other clubs and teams "tinpot" but you did it all last season as much as you think they are in awe of playing Orient you sound like a premiership fan talking about league one or two side and we all hate those condescending mouthy prem fans, you just come across as being the same when we play a club from a lower division you should show these clubs a bit of respect, it's not like we haven't played Dartford in a friendly in pre season before now is it.

Obviously it's about fitness at the moment not that it's sinking in with some people. We all agree we are a couple of players short still two weeks until our first league game so still time.

Jeez for gods sake we all know about friendly games oh masterful one. Some of us know its also a chance to try things out and give fringe players the opportunity to make a statement. Nobody is going OTT. The fringe players failed to make a case for being any more than fringe players and poor ones at that. Sergeant did well enough though. The others will hardly give Ross selection headaches. The lack of competition bothers me. Especially as Jobi was doing lots of coaching
