Re: Beeb Gags Lineker
I would think Gary Lineker would consider sueing the BBC . If this thing isn't solved quickly.
The hypocrisy is unbelievable.
Alan Sugar has tweeted vile political tweets, yet he has not been thrown off the channel. There are others too
GL was spot on with his comparison to the German rhetoric from 1930s.
The fascists are taking over

Lineker is a sport presenter and should stick to it, If he wants to dabble in politics, put himself up for election, see how far he gets with that, dissapear out of sight hopefullyProposition Joe wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 5:14 pm Just shows how far we've gone as a country that, after sobbing about how mean it is that anyone would make comparisons between your policies and 1930s Germany, your immediate response is to do things you'd probably have seen in 1930s Germany and a large chunk of the population will lap it up.

Stoking the culture wars is all they have left before the next election and the left wing, if you look on Twitter etc seem to be falling for it. It looks like brexit on Social media all over again and the only way the Tories can survive is to continue to turn this up into 2024. Watch the gap between Labour and the Tories start to close as the liberal elites vs the people is game on again. It’s just got interesting!

No , but I’m thinking Match of the day has always been about football. It shouldn’t be about the presenters. They come and go. There will always be replacements who will present it in a better way.EastDerehamO wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 9:29 pm Great re no presenters, am I the only one thinking that'll save some licence fee payers money?

So unless you work directly in politics as a politician you aren’t allowed to have an opinion on politics?Type high wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 2:58 amLineker is a sport presenter and should stick to it, If he wants to dabble in politics, put himself up for election, see how far he gets with that, dissapear out of sight hopefullyProposition Joe wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 5:14 pm Just shows how far we've gone as a country that, after sobbing about how mean it is that anyone would make comparisons between your policies and 1930s Germany, your immediate response is to do things you'd probably have seen in 1930s Germany and a large chunk of the population will lap it up.
Does the same rule apply to football? Unless you’re a professional football player/coach you can’t have an opinion on a football match?

Proper funny how the right wing mob on here cry when they feel like one of them or one of their own is getting cancelled by ‘snowflake wokies’ but when someone says something that goes against their morally bankrupt views it’s all ‘stick to sports mate’. Hypocrites.

So are we living in 2020's Nazi Britain?
Is this 1-0 to the lefties or right wing fascists?

Re: Beeb Gags Lineker
The BBC did not mind when Lineker and other presenters were making political comments at the World Cup. And I believe the Chairman of the BBC makes donations to the Tories, not very impartial

Looking forward to watching MOTD without any presenters. Just concentrate on the football and forget about all the meaningless claptrap.

Re: Beeb Gags Lineker
Sure. If Lineker had said we need to turn around the boats and drag them back to France do you think his fellow pundits would have walked out in sympathy? Do you think the BBC would have only given him a suspension. Right wing views = instant cancellation. Left wing views. Observing - accurately - that the governments language is similar to that of 1930s Germany is not an equivalent or opposite to demanding that we send/drag every refugee back.Beradogs wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 8:48 amSure. The thing about “cancel culture” is it’s not as simple as “left wing cancels people doing right wing stuff, right wing does the opposite”; it’s about organisations either second guessing public mood based on perception of pressure from outraged public - in this instance it’s been seized upon by the government as a dead cat strategy.

Re: Beeb Gags Lineker
No. Observing that it’s like 1930’s Germany is clearly ridiculous while dragging economic migrants back from whence they came is a policy that has already been enacted in Australia.
