No ones being forced, it’s called freedom of choice. If they don’t have enough staff or stewards the game gets cancelled, but I don’t believe that was the reason was it?
How would you feel if an attending fan died due to the heat?
and what if a fan died from the cold in a freezing day in January, or fell down the stairs in the West Stand ?

Really that the best you can come up with. We’ll never know because it’s been closed down tomorrow night. I’m going to say something now that might shock you, people die all the time, it’s called life.

Let me ask you now them as you’re into sensationalistic statements/questions, how would you feel if someone died at home in the heat tmw who otherwise would’ve been outside in the shade, in the evening, at the football...??

I think it’s the right thing to do in the circumstances as this is only a friendly.
Having said that I wonder the decision would have been if it was a league game with 4-5,000 tickets being sold.
Probably some arcane EFL rules that would decide it.

Tbh I think all clubs would be better off delaying their games until Wednesday, for the sake of a day for a pre-season friendly is it worth taking the risk playing in these conditions.

Get a grip it's a 40 degree day not the inner rings of hell. I ran a hundred mile race in 40 degrees a few years back, you just adjust for the weather. I agree with those saying you should take personal responsibility rather than having the choice taken out of your hands.

I'm sure temperatures will exceed 40C in the next World Cup, so will those games be played behind closed doors?

This nanny state bollocks is just too much
Pretty sure the extreme heat was one of the major complaints about awarding it to Qatar.
Aren't all the stadiums there fitted with a/c to make them playable?

As mentioned earlier, I don’t do friendlies much (unless they’re local or if I’m in town) But then that’s my choice.

That'd be awful. Wouldn't the pitch be frozen and the game called off though? I also believe heat is a greater threat to life than the cold.

If anyone believes this is genuinely because of the weather, they're just being daft.

It's because only 400 people showed up on Saturday, abd the club are having to give away free streaming because of the balls up with that stream. They know there will only be 200 or so turning up so it's not financially viable to open up.

Absolutely right. They wouldn't have acted this way if a crowd of 5000 plus was expected with a friendly v Arsenal

Nonsence. The Police were worried that 500 to 700 Pompey fans would be stranded if the Trains were cancelled. Safety Advisory group & Police advised club to play behind closed doors

Hottest day on record in the UK, there's a big world out there where people live in much hotter conditions. I appreciate they are conditioned to it and some have a/c and things like that, but this is just a football match in the evening
