Re: Tory Watch
Fingertips still clinging on. Just don’t understand why the required number of Tory MPs have not written to create a leadership challenge. Enough is enough. Or in the case of Boris, anything is too much.

Noises are the threshold is close, whether he wins the VONC or not isn't exactly relevant as the damage will have been done.

Re: Tory Watch
David Davis has just put the boot in at PMQ's telling Boris to go. Vote of N/C or challenge can't be far away now.
Can't say I'm massively arsed by it. If he stays, our PM remains an untrustworthy and incompetent arse. Truss, Sunak et al aren't going to be an improvement - seeing Boris in Post or these utter Dimwit lightweights punted as potential PM's shows how far our politics has fallen.

Re: Tory Watch
I dunno, it's pretty satisfying to see the self serving entitled nasty dickhead finally get his comeuppance after decades of getting away with atrocious behaviour with no repercussions whatsoever. And it's important that there is a bar, albeit a very very low one, when it comes to conduct in office. He's spent the last 3 years trying to trash the idea completely.Admin wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 12:55 pm David Davis has just put the boot in at PMQ's telling Boris to go. I Johnson goes ( fingers crossed), it may be, the next PM, will want his/her own cabinet, meaning the atrocious vile Patel may not be Home Sec. any more, which is good news for all decent folk out there

It’s soon, but, here’s a very important reminder of the long term agenda in Tory, and why he’s actually going, as I’m sure most here likely know...

Christ the above is depressing. What he says absolutely strikes a chord, unfortunately. The toffs and their money-grabbing mates have never had it so good and aren't about to give any of it up in the foreseeable future. Rather they'll try and grab more and screw everyone else. It's always been the Tory way but never more so than now.

Re: Tory Watch
It's the fascist way. Democracy doesn't work for them anymore as the rate of return on capital drops they need to capture the state and use it to extract profit from taxpayers. The Taxpayers Alliance will be fuming when they hear about this.BoniO wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 3:27 pm Christ the above is depressing. What he says absolutely strikes a chord, unfortunately. Robert Peston also reporting on rumours that Sue Gray has found the email from a senior official to Johnson’s PPS warning him the 20 May party should not go ahead, as per Cummings’s statement.

Johnson will simply claim that Reynolds didn't tell him it was against the rules. He really doesn't give a f*ck that his lying is this brazen. The tiniest scrap of plausible deniability will in his mind allow him to carry on.

Well if they report the blackmail to Cressida I'm entirely certain it will be fully investigated.

I suspect they will be looking to see if the event was a party or a work event and whether is was reasonable for Boris to believe it was a work event.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 12:24 pm They're waiting for the report, so they will know if Boris was at a party or not. Duh!

Rules in the workplace
As part of the government’s recovery strategy, it also published new guidelines for employers and staff on how to manage workplaces safely.
As a general principle, it advised employers that “you need to think about the risks [workers] face and do everything reasonably practicable to minimise them, recognising you cannot completely eliminate the risk of COVID-19.”
Assuming that Downing Street staff were considered essential workers who could not do their jobs from home, they were required to keep two metres apart whenever possible.
The workplace guidelines that applied in May 2020 do not say whether social gatherings between colleagues in the workplace were permitted, although they do advise that different teams should usually avoid mixing “as far as possible”.
The guidelines also say that meetings should usually be limited to “only absolutely necessary participants”. It also advised that these should be held outdoors or in well ventilated areas when possible. A separate document also said “workers should try to minimise all meetings and other gatherings in the workplace".
The guidelines said that breaks in common areas should usually be staggered and that any seating in these areas should be reconfigured “to maintain spacing and reduce face-to-face interactions.”
The government’s outdoor guidance on 20 May 2020 also said: “Businesses should also take reasonable steps to avoid people being gathered together.”

Once again, the party invite that needs investigating:
“Hi all, after what has been an incredibly busy period we thought it would be nice to make the most of the lovely weather and have some socially distanced drinks in the No 10 garden this evening. Please join us from 6pm and bring your own booze!”

Re: Tory Watch
I have little doubt the review will examine the rules in detail and publish their findings. The review will consider the rules in their entirety and if see any exemptions can be applied or not. I hope and believe the outcome will be a fair and impartial review, as any audit should be.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 2:41 pmhttps://fullfact.org/health/outdoor-par ... -may-2020/Dohnut wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 2:34 pmI suspect they will be looking to see if the event was a party or a work event and whether is was reasonable for Boris to believe it was a work event.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 12:24 pm They're waiting for the report, so they will know if Boris was at a party or not. What I do know is that snippets, such as you have identified, don’t always tell the full story. Life I rarely that simple.
The outcome could well mean Boris has little option but go. If so it will be as a result of an independent review.
