Scotland turning red again
Labour under Corbyn won the seat in 2017 with more votes and with the SNP riding the wave and no openly fascist Tory party. Keir has harvested the disgruntled Tories.

Interestingly the SNP vote share has collapsed due to disillusionment with Nicola & Co and they couldn't muster enough activists to deliver leaflets and had to hire a company to do it.

I was wondering what would happen because of the massive influx of new members after the Indyref and whether they would become more radical.

They responded by centralising further and marginalising the membership whilst adopting even more neo-liberal policies and tearing themselves apart on marginal issues like the GRA. Independence is on the back burner for now.

Im surprised Corbyn managed to win more votes given the turnout in 2017 and 2023 were pretty much the same

Think the turnout in 2017 was only 20,000 higher

A fact is a fact. If Sir Kid Strarver was so popular he would have inspired a higher turnout.

“Keir has harvested the disgruntled Tories”

Yes, it’s definitely a bad thing to persuade the people who voted for the other party last time to vote for you this time instead.

You're trying too hard. I didn’t say it was a bad thing. It was merely an observation.

The danger being that Labour move further to the right to harvest even more right wingers.

Wow, did you spot that danger all by yourself? That’s quite the insight. Have you considered perhaps starting a podcast?

That's a bit patronising. If I didn't know better I might be tempted to say you are not discussing this in good faith.

So having identified and agreed upon the danger do you have any thoughts on how far to the right Sir Keef should move to harvest more Tory votes? For example, foaming on about stopping the boats seems popular.

I think it's time the two of you got together and did one. Might ease the tensions between you a little.

It was. Although in % term last night is 26% down on 2017 and almost 30% on 2019. No previous by-election in this constituency to compare against though.

He's got the hump because I trashed his arsewipe example on his weirdly favourite thread.

Could have been acid, or God knows what? Still Maxy & his ilk will think it a fine prank. I think it puts bad ideas into the heads of such extremists.

Yeah, it could have been acid, if it had been acid. I just said thank you to someone who poured me a pint of lucky saint. It could have been a punch in the face for giving me a pint of urine, if that’s what had happened. Makes you think.

Well I don't. It wasn't a political act but a stupid theatrical bourgeoise stunt. And as my friend CEB has ridiculed your final sentence I don't need to.

Can't agree with that. His speech today was a blinder and was warmly received by the faithful. Another one like that and he will have won me over.

:D You've gotta love Owen Jones. He'd do anything to see Labour lose. Even resorting to a classic boardin' Jonah.

Labour are terrified of a rerun of the 1992 General Election. Hence the softly softly approach. Media such as The Sun is less influential these days, and a lot of commentators fancy a change for a change's sake. I would like to see a certain East London MP charged with rape on the run up to the next Election. That would screw Sleazy Richy's Party nicely.
