Cases have been over 20k a day for about a month now without going much higher. Does this mean deaths should have peaked or be close to peaking?

Not necessarily, as I guess part of it is how hospitals in certain areas are able to cope with the impact of increased patients (including the number of non Covid patients).Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 4:23 pm Cases have been over 20k a day for about a month now without going much higher. That's where they came into contact with an infected individual only, right? And so doesn't take into account being there and picking up an item that an infected person had handled and put back earlier in the day. Agree with what you say about the transmission.faldO wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 4:24 pm Interesting analysis of test & trace data suggesting that supermarkets are the most likely place to pick up the virus:

I clean all the stuff I bring home - a bit OCD I know - but perhaps necessary. I'm sure there's just as much transmission through accidental touching of contaminated surfaces and then to nose/mouth as there is through the air.
Unless somebody breathes, coughs or sneezes directly over you, I'm not sure there is much airborne transmission.faldO wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 4:24 pm Interesting analysis of test & trace data suggesting that supermarkets are the most likely place to pick up the virus:

Yes agreed, the point being that if people are picking the virus up in supermarkets and not being breathed/coughed/sneezed on they have to pick it up somehow, most likely (IMO) from touching contaminated surfaces/packages in the supermarket or from bringing something home with it on (probably less likely).Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 5:09 pmUnless somebody breathes, coughs or sneezes directly over you, I'm not sure there is much airborne transmission.faldO wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 4:24 pm Interesting analysis of test & trace data suggesting that supermarkets are the most likely place to pick up the virus:

Irrelevant metric?Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 6:33 pm But we're only the worst by that one metric, which as pointed out several times is not a particularly useful one when comparing countries.

Deaths are the most important metric. What part of that don’t you understand? Someone dying is the ultimate failure.
Not surprised you don’t get that given your lack of empathy for anything.

The truth?Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 9:41 pm Nobody is saying it's ok. But ask people how many are dying daily and they'll tell you the announced figure, the truth is it's about half that.

What would you know about the ‘truth’?
The facts are different from your ‘truth’ where everything is fine and 50 000 deaths don’t matter because most of them are elderly who either were going to die soon anyway or are to blame for not hiding away.
You are some piece of work.
Reckon it might something to do with people not going out as much and therefore not only avoiding things like road traffic accident deaths but also not picking up other virus’ like the flu?
