It’s like everyone has forgotten he spent his whole career playing wide left until KDBs injury earlier this season.

It's a broader phenomenon. Even by the already low standards of most England fans, I don't think I've ever seen so much negative emotion surrounding our progress to the QFs. As Southgate has improved the team, the fans have got antsier.
Properly pathetic and childish
I know that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but that's a tad harsh on OyinbO. He's not that bad.

Ok then. Foden’s a 10, he’s only ever played as a 10, Southgate is a clown for playing him somewhere other than the 10 role.

That better?

Another snoozefest last night. One of the dullest tourneys ever. Thankfully I've got the Tour de France to give me some interest over the next few weeks

If he has a 'typical' position at City (and they play in such a fluid way that it doesn't really matter that much), it's on the right cutting in.

He obviously can play wide left in the right set up. This isn't it. If the right back tracks him into the middle, there is noone exploiting that gap that should create.

He’s not just the clown Southgate is the whole circus, who else would go into a comp with only one left back that hasn’t played for four months, who picks the same underperforming team four games in a row,who plays the same formation each and every game, puts subs on with a minute to go and the list goes on. He should do the lottery he’s that lucky. Been saying it for years, now people are being in to cotton on.

A question, if we were to fluke our way to the final via this turgid football and sneaking 1 goal wins then get comprehensively taken apart by Germany / Spain in the final is that success or failure?

Watching those two sides the ball moves quickly and efficiently compared to our plodding back and sideways. I think the crux of the complaints is fans seeing us make hard work of lower ranked teams and knowing deep down if we play like that against a top side it'll be painful to watch.

Well theres the question, would everyone be happy to get to the final playing ugly or go out playing pure exciting football?

It would be a success. Getting to a final is a success compared to not getting to a final.

Southgate has now won more knockout games with England than all previous England managers combined since 1966. That too is a success.

The opening round of games were great but it's nosedived since then. Bloated format really being shown up for what it is as the tournament goes on.

We don't have the players to play like them.

Rodri. Kroos. Rice.

As it happens, we'll be better off against the better teams where we don't have to dictate play but can sit back and hope for a counter/set-piece.

Boring yes, but it's the best we can hope for with this group of players. We don't have the midfield to control games and dominate teams.

If we got to a second consecutive euros final having only ever made a single final previously in our history, then yes it'd be insane not to class that as a success.

I'm more worried about us getting done by an Austria or Switzerland, who we should be undoubtedly beating but would struggle to based on performances at the tournament.

Swiss are no mugs, very well organised and strong team, who imo on current form, are favs going into Sat match v England .

2020 Euros - 1/4 finalist
2022 World Cuo - Last 16
2024 Euros - 1/4 finalist v England

Austria, very similar to Swiss, dark horse for Euros, lost 1-0 to France, and already beat Poland and Holland, and I expect will also beat Turkey.

England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 if we put in a performance we all know we can and are waiting for, will beat both, but the Q is we will?
All depends on wether Stubborn Southgate continues with same players in same formation.

Does anyone else think that stupid countdown to kick-off is patronising and an insult to the intelligence of the 'customers' ?

Honestly can’t say it bothers me either way, if you’re in the crowd I’m sure it just adds to the atmosphere and gets the crowd involved.

Another evening with a stellar goalkeeping moment, that save by the Turkey keeper at the end Gordon Banks would be proud of that
