Having lying, scheming, unprincipled, exploitative bastards in charge is one thing. But I draw the line at thickos.

We need a sodding revolution, that’s what. Kick out all the sitting MP’s, and start again on a new deal. A basic salary, no second jobs, no other interests or consultancies and no b*stard expenses. The subsidised HoC bars and restaurants to be stopped, and normal prices applied. We’ve lost sight of what an MP is supposed to be, and so have they. They’re elected public servants, no more than that. Way too many, and most of them are on the Tory benches, are in it for what they can get out of it, to maintain the status quo and protecting their interests. I mean, what do the likes of Sunak, Rees-Mogg etc get out of it? Sunak is worth an estimated £200m and is easily the wealthiest member of the House, what on earth is he doing there? Ego, nothing more. R-M is there to keep the old system going, believing much like Cameron and Johnson did/do, they have a divine right to rule over the proles. So many Tories come from extremely privileged backgrounds that you can only assume they’re in it for what they can get out of it, not for what they can do for their constituents.

I f*cking hate them all.

I think you need to come off the fence a bit there Stowy, and let us know what you really think.

I'm alarmed by your assumption that they will be thickos. There are any number of posh thickos already in Parliament.

Yes they do have oversized egos and yes they want to profit from their position but more importantly they are there because they are the ruling class and are there to safeguard the interests of finance capital and of course Russia.

I’m just sick of it. Cox is now showing what it’s really all about, having earned at least £6m in recent years, with £930,000 this year alone. That’s not a second job. Why does he feel the need to be an MP other than for status and ego?

I was good friends with my local MP in Ealing a few years back, and he said he barely had time to go to watch Fulham, let alone have a second job.

Because it opens up opportunities presumably. Being attorney general can't have hurt his earning potential and you get continues access to the commons after you leave your seat.

A lot of the benefit these MPs/lords/appointed non executive directorships to the civil service get is through networking and access, and understanding of process. When it comes to bidding for big government contracts, it's a massive help, as the Tories have shown throughout the pandemic.

What's always surprising to me in how cheap it is to buy influence. IDS was paid 25k by a company that stood to directly benefit from recommendations he was making in a report.

Exactly. I'd have held out for at least £30K.

Bit unfair to target Cox. He is after all out in the British Virgin Islands doing very important work defending the British Virgin Island against corruption charges by the UK Government.

You literally couldn’t make this sh*t up.

Banning MPs from taking money and freebies from other governments might leave JC with a few cash flow issues.

You want to be careful making accusations like that he's got over £300k in a legal fund to fight defamation actions.

And I've got access to MPs register of interests so I win

Saying that, he failed to declare his jolly to Tunisia.

Not £6,000,000 short, it won’t.

He’s so good.

Instead of discussing the vast quantities of sleaze literally dripping out of the Tory party, we’re now goIng over Corbyns expense claims.
