I've not actually been following this that closely, but from what I can gather the following has happened:
- Neil Paterson was paid £500ph to advise for Randox while they were bidding for a government contract to perform Covid testing.
- Randox had their contract with the police terminated after it was discovered that a "most serious breach" of forensic science standards had occured.
- The Rugby Football Union & Premiership Rugby terminated their contracts with Randox as it was responsible for errors that saw false positives for a number of Bath Rugby players.
- Randox also had to recall up to 750,000 unused coronavirus testing kits because of safety concerns.
- And yet, despite all this, lucky old Randox won a £133m contract for Covid testing without any other firms getting a chance to bid!
- The Government then made the Randox Covid tests mandatory for travel.
- Randox then reports £218million revenue (+85%).
- And, if that isn't enough, Randox has also received millions in Government grants. When a Freedom of Information request was made to understand how much Randox had received and for what purpose, the Department for Trade refused saying that it would cost too much to response to the request with the information.
Have I got this right? Is this it, or am I missing something? I'm all for balance, being rational and reasonable, so am more than happy to be directed towards a proper explanation.
Breaking news - Neil Patterson’s brother, Owen, has been forced to resign.
Hope you’re all happy.

It's just spam
I hope the moderator and Admin take appropriate action
Can't say I'm particularly fussed either way on this subject although I'd agree they're not particularly amusing.

Now that the corruption stuff has been dealt with, let’s move on to the new breaking news:
Boris Johnson given £25k holiday for free by man he made a peer after he lost his seat as an MP.*

* The luxurious multi million pound villa is believed to be ultimately owned by the billionaire Goldsmith family, but it’s impossible to tell for certain as it’s held by an opaque offshore structure in multiple tax havens.

Owen Paterson is suggesting in his resignation statement that MPs have publicly mocked and derided his wife’s death. Has anyone see that? It would be low of anyone to have done that, but I've not yet come across it myself.

It's just another Tory lie. They don't even know they're doing it anymore.

Of course it hasn’t happened.
Wouldn’t surprise me if someone has - quite rightly - criticised him and others that have used his wife’s tragic death as some sort or excuse or defence for his corrupt behaviour and he’s incorrectly referencing that?

Straight out of their usual playbook. Mind Cameron cynically invoking his late son's name in his claim to be the best guardian of the NHS, and then being portrayed as the victim when people called him out on it.
They make my skin crawl.

After his election as an MP in December 2019, Wakeford continued claiming public allowances for at least three roles outside the House of Commons – as a Lancashire County Council councillor, as chair of that council's education scrutiny committee and as a Pendle Borough Council councillor – despite having announced "to a full Lancashire council chamber" his resignation in February 2020
