I’ve just read the letter.

Clearly Boris has published it to salvage his image and votes and I can see why the French are pissedoff with him, but there’s not much to pick fault at with the actual content.

(Other than the idea of Serco being given the contract to pop dinghys).

Considering that lives are at stake, we should be pragmatic enough to appreciate the political situation in France and not do anything that will be counter-productive. There was simply no need to write an open letter in the first place.

Perhaps the most shocking revelation yet: the Home Office are paying £20 a pop for Chicken Shish meals for new arrivals.

A cynic would say the uk government knew the French would throw the letter back at us but they are just laying the groundwork for next year. Once we start getting a 1000 a day or possibly a lot more by April may next year Boris can turn around and say he tried everything including letters. Basically just blame the French.

And how long is it going to be before this new variant of concern is detected in France and helped across the channel by asylum seekers. The whole situation is a real mess with , seemingly, no solutions

An Iraqi Kurd who gives his name as Karzan Khadir, 31, says he has no hesitation continuing to try to cross the Channel in whatever fragile dinghy his people-smuggler provides.

‘I’ve tried 11 times so far,’ he says. ‘Many times the engine has broken on the boat.

‘We tried the same day the boat sank. We were out on the sea for four hours, 14 of us, waiting for the English to come and pick us up.

‘But no British or French came to help us so we came back to Calais at 1am. It was very cold.

‘But I’ll keep trying. If I don’t get in this year, I’ll try again next year – it’s very dangerous but we’re obligated to try again.’

The new variant , as i understand it, has been found in Southern Africa, which is no where near, the middle east, where the refugees ( not migrants..horrible word), are coming from.
Also, again as I understand it, the current Delta variant, was brought here by genuine visitors and British residents from India on regular flights into this country, not from refugees.
Whether you mean it or not, there's a vein of racism through your post

It’s to do with COVID , not racism. Stop being pathetic. It’s a fact that a percentage of those picked up either mid channel or in the Uk test positive.

And , of course , it’s a number of countries in the Southern half of Africa which is attached by land to the northern half of Africa. In addition to that , there is a case now from Israel so this should be a concern

Nothing to do with bigotry. As I understood it , the Kent variant was linked to asylum seekers . Not sure if there was solid proof of that but it’s worth considering

How can you blame someone who catches covid. That’s an odd way of putting it. I am simply raising my concern . If it’s as bad as this variant looks , it will be here soon enough anyway

Nice try. Of course that post was with regards the situation prior to this possible disaster. It still stands.

The variant will enter the country as others normally do via unchecked passengers at airports. But we can't inconvenience those passengers, better to blame it on asylum seekers as it's a much easier sell.

The problem for intelligent boarders, such as me, is that even when we put these gobsh*tes on foe, we still end up reading their drivel when they are quoted by others. Such as how you have done here. And now me.

Not even any points for using the correct terminology in " Asylum seeker "

You can still see their posts when you are not logged in. That's what happened to me with the one above.

Anyway back on foe you go. Can't stand boastful intelligent Boarders always blowing their own trumpet.
