Had a bad feeling we were in trouble a few mins before that goal went in. Haven't seen such scared, lifeless anti-football since the days of Embleton's Orient side

Celtient wrote: Sun Jun 30, 2024 1:34 pm My point is, why are they so keen to see penalties awarded for handball ( usually accidental) but not so keen to award penalties for shirt pulling (100% deliberate)
Presumably because of the sheer number of penalties that would be given.
And that would be a problem, because?

No problem for me (I’ve already said it’d soon stop anyway).

A mere 45 minutes into the first half, and England finally show up.

Good lesson for Scotland strikers there. Concentrate on putting the ball in the net rather than drawing the foul.

All too easy to predict . From the beginning of this competition England has been awful . I think this will be Southgate’s last game in charge

Cole Palmer must come on at half time, and Anthony Gordon took
We lack tempo, no one's running, or making runs
45 mins away from being rid of Southgate

We can get back into this but next goal will decide it.

What is the point of playing Foden on the left wing, ditto to Trippier playing at left back !

Southgate, master of negative tactics and playing players out of position.

No need to panic. Give em 10 mins despite all the pundits going mad. 45 mins is a long time. Something needs to change with the players out there though

Arguably, the goal of the tournament from a special player England had better go onto win this now after nearly thrown it away

Great stuff, Southgate has been fully vindicated basically playing the same team over and over

Foden off, Toney on and goals happen, the former will still probably start the next game if we scrape through this

The bloke is just about the worst manager i have seen in my lifetime but he’s bloody lucky and that’s counts for so much.

Yup was said in 2018 and 2021 he might not be a good manager but he's a lucky manager. Really got away with one tonight, Slovakia didn't deserve that last minute sucker punch

I don't know how we done it but we slipped out of jail there . It still feels like we're playing in second gear . We're going to need to find a higher gear to beat Switzerland . Anyway , onwards we go .

Another quarter final. Southgate’s England go marching on. The stess of that will help them out long term and all winning teams have tournament games like that they somehow get through.

Recommendation needed:

I'm down the West End next Saturday for some poncey theatre action. Thankfully, it's a matinee performance. So I need a recommendation for where I can watch the game with some refined guests. Preferably somewhere I can book a table and where the scum/riff raff isn't likely to be. And with fine wine.
