I wonder about that with golf sometimes, but on a sunny winters day, I like a good walk spoilt by playing golf. I thought the fishing close season was 15 March to 15 June or doesn't that apply nowadays. I last went fishing in the UK about 50 years ago.

Yes the close season is on rivers and certain canals , you can fish most lakes and commerciall fisheries all year round , I do a little bit of river fishing but mainly stillwaters for carp and bream .
