They're still working on the assumption that current inflationary trends are short-term.

A proper stitch-up by the regulator. We now have an energy 'market' whereby we are denied the arguable benefits of open competition.

Still, better than under Corbyn where he'd have renationalised everything by now.

Was that the competition that saw 29 rapacious middle men companies go bust?

I suppose it happens in a rigged artificially constructed "market" which is now a virtual monopoly.

£2,600 is about 1/3rd of the state pension (average payment is £8,530) and 2/3rds of a single person's Universal Credit of £4,018 (88% if <25). Combined with food price inflation and housing being unaffordable for so many, this is just not manageable.

Ofgem confirm that the price cap will increase to £2,800 in October (not the £2,600 previously reported). That's a 42% increase.

Meanwhile, my bolthole in France has capped energy bills at just 4%.

Still trying to blame every bloody thing on Brexit ? If you want to blame anybody blame that lunatic leading Russia from the Kremlin . It’s thanks to Russia fuel bills are so high and food shortages are on the horizon thanks to Russia’s navy blockade of Odessa .

Less than 5% of our gas is imported from Russia.

Sure, the war is causing havoc in international energy markets, but Government's can choose to do something about it. Such as in France, where they've capped domestic bill increases at just 4%.

Wonder how big a backhander Boris and chums are getting from the energy providers (allegedly). I think he could probably afford to redecorate the flat again.

But the people are France have to make do with state run socialist electric. I'd rather pay a few pounds extra and get proper, free market electric like what we do.
